My speedo has to go to Speedy Cables to be rebuilt.

They tell me they'll need the sender as well, to calibrate the speedo.

Please, does anyone here have a spare sender they could lend or sell me, to blank off the hole in the 'box, so I won't be off the road for the "8 to 10 weeks" they say it's going to take take?

The car's an S3C, with an ordinary Type 9 'box as far as I can tell.

For interest, I'm using a worn-out smartphone with "GPS Test Plus" app as a perfectly good speedo at the moment.

The information at the above website mentions using Loctite when blanking off the hole, could be difficult removing the Loctite at a later date

Thanks: never seen the blanking plug before. A bit concerned about what holds it in? Just the o-ring fit?
I'll probably use Hylomar rather than Loctite.

That plug will be a tight, as in hammer it in, fit. Loctite will be the least of your problems when it comes to getting it back out wink

It is intended for the earlier type 9 box with cable speedo drive.......................

Thanks, Mike. Any suggestions how to plug my hole temporarily?
Don't forget I'm holding on to that timing cover for you (tho' it's not eating any meat where it is............).

Had forgotten all about that one John!

Searching the Finis Code from this old post brought up a couple of N.O.S. sold on Ebay in the past but they didn't have the gear, guess that was supplied separately depending on diff ratio?

Might sound a little crude but could some sort of bung be fashioned from plastic or wood? alluminium would be nice if you know anyone with a lathe?

A little fork or something even simpler could be knocked up to hold it in?

If the cars not going to get a huge amount of use over the next few weeks (months?) even if it weeps a touch it won't do any harm scratchchin

Just a thought..
Do a fleebay search on 'plastic cap' or bung.
Plenty of designs and sizes available.
