how do you remove the fuel tank sender unit to replace the gasket does it just unscrew ?

Later series (like my old 1991 S3) had a locking ring that simply rotates in the outer part (fixed to the tank). To obtain a good seal it is advisable to order both a new gasket and a new locking ring. I ordered mine from TMS and they cost only a few pounds inc. postage.

i will get them before i get the sender out did you have to quote a part number or anything ?
