Has anyone ever changed the mechanical boot lock, the one operated via a cable to a barrel lock and key, or to a locking lever handle type.
My reason for asking is that having just experienced "locking" myself out of the boot and having to get the garage to sort it whilst doing the MOT which incidentally passed with flying colours (relief), I think a change in type would (a) make the boot more secure and(b) avoid the possibility of a future cable snap with all the hassle that goes with it The early Elans had a neat locking handle type that would fit quite neatly onto the TVR.
Any thoughts on this?

Phil,
Iv'e always thought access into the boot was vulnerable and some added security would be a good idea. Iv'e put a few feelers out on the lines of my thread and if anything comes of it I will let you know.
Cheers.

The cables OK until it snaps or the boot catch presently fitted jambs - I know Iv'e just had the experience.
I was thinking more of the small semi recessed type of boot lock rather than the handle type, this could go either on the boot lid or between the lid and the number plate on the back vertical bit.
