My very first ever track day was at Croft and they put me with the inters' because my car was too fast for the novice group. I agree this is more about lap times and reducing the need for overtaking.

I'm sorry Wendy but you're not getting the track to yourself. There's alway novices there.

Well stardust you don't know it yet but you're getting a BMiniW Cooper to borrow next Wednesday. Just thought I'd wet your appetite for taking the Mini on the track.

Indeed. Dear help me.
Oh stop it. It's just good fun driving around a wide one-way road with policemen (marshals) who want you to go faster and no scameras.

Just in case I forget to say it afterwards, I'll say it now. "I told you that you'd enjoy it!"

Bob, is it £5 per passenger ride, or £5 to be a passenger all day?

And I presume that allows me to roam the track side to take pictures (on the other side of the barriers of course).
Yes, access to the pit wall is available to us all.

Will be comming down to spectate so if you need any helpers give me a shout.
Once you've introduced yourself you may wish to be a passenger. Why not bring a fiver and if you're offered a ride you can pay and go for it.

Yes Chris. Passenger riders can pay on the day. You will need to be there at the start to hear the safety brief and get you helmet if you don't already possess one.

Details of the day, arrival times, etc., will follow.

No you won't. You'll be coming in the Marlin and booking it on the track with us.

I won't take no for an answer. You're doing it and that's that. Safe as houses and sooooomuchfun how can you possibly think of not going on the track.

I though track day insurance only covered your own car. If you crash then it pays, if you crash into someone else then it only pays for damage to your own car, if someone crashes into you it pays for your own car. Sort of like 'first party' insurance.

I may be wrong but that was how I interpreted it

The answer I expected Stefan but, as you imply, you're love of driving needs consideration here. You love the Lake District roads and you don't mind spending money to do the things you enjoy.

When you invested in your Marlin you had the luxury of first driving your dads car. You learned from this that driving was something you would enjoy. Sometimes you need to take the leap of faith; you won't get the chance to experience track day driving until you choose to do it. Then you'll realise that it is something that is worth investing in maybe once per year. It is the extreme expression of driving and something that someone with your interests and values needs to do. Your car appears well sorted these days. Get your hand in your pocket and do this. You'll thank me, I guarantee it.

How are we doing for numbers Bob? How many did you confirm to get the discount?
No problem. Croft are carrying the risk for me. To be fair we do need a few more. Minimax is not in the country yet and byff is on holiday. I expect they will attend.

You still need to work on Elaine.

It's not up to me. Once Croft has booked 75 cars they stop taking bookings. Don't leave it too late though. Two weeks before should be OK but if you leave it till one week before you may find it's fully booked because the long range weather forecasts will be published.

do you think we can get 75 cars ?
It's not a PH event. It's open to the public and there are many trackers in the Northeast who will soon eat up those places if the weather's good. My worry is that the 10 - 20 PHers that we add will cause them to be booked up sooner.

It's open to the public so anyone can come along. Special rates are for PHers only though.
