I assumed the 288 GTO was a replica. Am I right? Or did someone bring over £400k worth of Fez to sit in the rain and mud?
Yep, it's a 308 with a GTO body. I've had it for 9 years. Funny but I've never said it's anything but a 308 with a GTO body, yet it's actually pictured in the Gumball Top Trumps pack as a 288 and has been published in a Ferrari Book as a 288. The dimensions are right but the obvious omission is the lack of a visible gearbox at the rear. Oh yes and the engine cover opens from the back (as per a 308) not the front, oh yes and it's about 130 BHP down
I also brought my Countach (initially parked behind the GTO, which was actually the only original Countach at the show. The two replicas looked pretty convincing, even when I parked mine next to them.
Great day, caught up with a few people (After_Shock, Ad111s, AstonX, EvlExige, Toenheel, Hedgetrimmer, Designer, Stringthing, Shoggoth. TesterossaDave, to name but a few).
Weather was a bit hit and miss, but thankfully not as bad as last year. Some great cars, bit of a shame hearing about all these replicas, I just cant see the point.
Big thanks to Dave for organising it.
Sean.

I got there about 2pm - mainly the result of a bad hangover

Was the Beemer loud enough on the way out...
Surprisingly little traction on that grass with 360 brake and Cup tyres

Yep sounded fantastic, was pmsl, some old timers walked past me as you revved off and were muttering "bloody hooligan" to themselves
Yep - good day and some great cars!
Tris travelled to the show in convoy with us in the Countach (or was it us with him!) and when we landed we 'inspected' the other Lambo's...and even he couldn't tell if they were real or not! His GTO 're-creation' is lovely too (real or not) - one the best looking cars 'period' for me.
Congrats on another successful show to Dave and the team.
Thumbs up to the guy in the black Ferrari 430 spyder at Blaydon on the way home - lovely looking car and it sounded awesome....nearly as nice as my Griff!

Good day yesterday, my girlfriend had a great time too! Was good to see so many TVRs in attendance and to meet some people, especially the S Series guys!
Good to meet you at last Nathan and see your car, you should visit the S forum more often mate and have a good think about where you can beg/steal/borrow the petrol money so you can make it to SCH2011K

I had told my dad I had been showing Countachs to their spaces! Maybe modify that now to showing a Countach! hahaHow do the replicas differ mechanically do you reckon? They certainly sounded the part!
Very interesting pair of cars you brought however, green with envy!
Cheers
