New Year Curry Night
Discussion
I made a provisional booking at 4500 Miles From Delhi for 25 people on Saturday 22nd January for 8pm, but having seen what filmidget said we may have to cancel! They have offered us our own private room This would be an advantage because all the tables are very close to eachother and the ceilings are very high, so I can imagine it sounding like a canteen on a Saturday night. An Indian friend of mine said that the food here was good. The starters are £4-10 The main courses are £8-15 (tandoori dishes being over £11). Rice and Naan breads start around £3. They have a good selection of vegetarian dishes.
Mem Saab
Mem Saab is next door to 4500 Miles From Delhi and the starters are priced at £3-7, main courses seemed to be in the region of £8-13 (tandoori dishes being the dearest). I think that rice dishes are separate. It looked quite pleasant from the outside and wasn't overly big. They are always advertising on local radio, but I don't know anyone who has been there.
Chutney Jacks
A foody friend of mine recommended this to me as the best Indian food she has ever tasted. It offers a wide range of dishes, including vegetarian, specific to regions of India. The starters are £3-7, main courses are predominantly £9, with tandoori dishes being £11-13. I think that rice is separate and they have a good selection of breads. The outside looks a bit tacky with a big red neon sign. It was closed so I couldn't see inside.
I don't know anything about City Spice I'm afraid.
So, I shall await the thoughts of others before I make a firm booking. Is 8pm about right for everyone?
PS I hope you have a lovely holiday Iain. See you in the new year!

Yeah, I think I can push the boat out too Greg as seen as I just got my car MOT results. I was a bit concerned when the young chap asked me how I wanted to pay and would I like to take a seat in the same breath £63.63 (including new fog lamp bulb). Bet you all wish you had my Volvo 440 Oh well, maybe not ...

Ha bl**dy ha. Last time I was asked the same regarding Saabine, it was four thousand one hundred something euro (later adjusted down to 3.776 euro because my previously upgraded turbo was rebuilt and the tubo place intially charged for the upgrade FFS!). Ate through all of my savings I'd set aside over the year for the 'TVR account' (at this rate, I can forget about that for the next oh, one hundred years or so...).
Oh well, she *did* kind of redeem herself at Brunters, and I'm afraid I've fallen in love all over again...
