I'm back in Nottingham for Saturday night (4th June), and off to Sheffield on Sunday morning.
I won't be around that night, but might be early afternoon.

Brown's is not a bad shout.

The Roundhouse is a bit soulless but it's usually quiet with decent sized tables.

Fothergills?

Masses of sporty things if that’s your bag. Maybe a cave tour, underground golf, horse racing, ice skating?

Good shout by the way. Can’t imagine my parents driving me 130 miles for a jump, then hanging about.

biggrin

And, being a car fan site we should mention Donington is only 30 minutes away. Might be something on.

We haven’t mentioned the castle (which it isn’t), it’s a pleasant way to spend an hour or so.

I thought it wasn’t meant to be great after the refurb, the trip advisor reports are a mixed bag. We are very local but haven’t bothered due to the bad press (we even get a locals discount)
I live 400 yards away and hadn’t been since 1988! We had a very pleasant time. Also, once you’ve paid your tenner you can go as many times as you like for the next year.

A lot of people on Tripadvisor are expecting a castle, which of course it isn’t.

Post bump; seems my son has found a girl in Nottingham so thinking about an overnight there coming up from Cardiff. Any recommendations of things to do for a middle aged couple with a 13yo in tow whilst the eldest does his thing?
So, have we been any help?

Steady on! Only managing PH once per day but yes great suggestions thanks. I will take the next few days to research them and come back with any questions, Have spent the last 2 days visiting stately homes around Cardiff and so NT properties will also be in the mix.

Castle is shut today. It's just been announced the firm running it on behalf of the City has gone bust!

The trust running the Castle went into liquidation today, so the castle is now closed until further notice.
I'm surprised nobody else has mentioned that on this thread hehe

Nottingham

This street used to be the most fashionable (presumably high rent) locale in Nottingham.

Now a planning application for HMOs above short lease shops.

https://westbridgfordwire.com/plans-for-homes-in-b...
But, almost perversely it's now got a higher occupancy of shops than any time in the last ten years. It's Fletcher Gate that's now tumble weed city.
