Was Sisson & Parkers the one on Hockley? If so I really liked a mooch in there and picked up a couple of nice coffee table "art" publications from there.
Pretty sure it was (at some time) on the corner of Shakespeare Street opposite the Victoria Centre clock tower entrance. (Where PC World is now)Bannock said:
What a bloody shame. And of course it's Castle Boulevard, not Lenton. My mistake.
What went wrong? Any idea? I appreciate that I was there, blimey, can it be 30 years ago? Lots changes in that time I know, but surely it's still a student area? Must be a prime building for a busy boozer?
Still a very busy student area. You would have thought it would have been a success. On the opposite side of the road used to be the Lancers, that too succumbed many years ago. What went wrong? If you came out of Madisons and turned right up Wollaton Street there was another club on the left. I had my 21st there and got into a massive brawl outside after. Was it Samantha’s?
Slightly late to the party but was it Arrabella's, I used to go there after work from Number 10.blingybongy said:

I can remember going to The Savoy to watch ‘The Unforgiven’ with Clint Eastwood, just had a look, that was 1992. I never went in the Lancers but used to go in Jolly Giant just down the road!
First time I went to the Savoy was either for Where Eagles Dare or Battle of Britain guess what sort of film my old man liked.Interesting fact the local independent cinema has about 40 of their old chairs and they are very small.

I moved to Nottingham (Mapperley) in 87 and lived there 'til late 89. Then I had a couple of years in Mansfield (I was working at the brewery).
After that I moved back to Nottingham (Long Eaton) for a couple of years, then bought a place in Sawley. Moved from there later in 96.
It was a nice place back then. (As were a lot of places, 'back then').

Anyone else remember The Clinton Arms (now The Orange Tree) on Shakespeare St?
Or more specifically the topless barmaids?
Me too. I can still see Vida getting her kit off to Brown Girl In The Ring. Just before the strippers came on they switched on a blue fluorescent which was a signal for all the old guys to move nearer the stage. Or more specifically the topless barmaids?

I think it was the Duke of Beford on Carlton Hill that had topless and bottomless barmaids. All the best drinks were on the bending over shelf.
I remember the staff putting their pants on to go home.
The Duke of Cambridge I think.I remember the staff putting their pants on to go home.
