Exmoor, as Stuart mentioned, does have some great roads and landscape. Namely the A39 which links Minehead to Barnstaple, take a look at that on the link I shared.
You haven't lived until you have experienced total brake failure when descending Countisbury Hill into Lynmouth! yikes

Exmoor could even warrant an overnight for some I expect!

8th of July is truck racing at thruxton I have already arranged to attend there with an uncle so sadly that wont work for me.

I would be keen to attend this Exmoor run despite the distance so if other dates are possible it would be appreciated but if not I will just have to wait.

Come july fun funds may be a little tight what with MOT and service, 2 ps4's on the back, exhaust and hopefully remap before then so may have to reconsider closer to the time.

Also really like the idea above of a run to castle Combe watch some racing then a run back. Of course a event would have to be agreed by those interested. May have to get the map out and see whats what scratchchin

Hi , if your coming to exmoor you can do better than the a39.

Have a look at this route on google maps .

come off the m5 at taunton , get on the a358 to minehead but at bishops lydeard turn left onto the b3224 towards wheddon cross/exford

then join the b3223 this is the moorland road you see in evo magazine and you can then drop into lynmouth and either pick up the a39 or turn around and head back to exford turn right onto the b3223 down to exbridge then take a right onto the a396 back to wheddon cross.

or you could get to exbridge then head down towards tiverton then pick up the a361 / m5 and head across to dartmoor .

re dartmoor it's got a heavily enforced speed limit whereas i don't think the police even know exmoor exists wink

Throw this one into the mix, my Polestar group are considering a trip to The Isle of Man, majority has NO speed limits, and get this;

4 nights and ferry crossings plus guided tour of the TT circuit with a rider and open pit lane. Also track day included for £500 pp

Not sure if you saw the proposed route further up the thread, it does include the B3223. See here: https://tinyurl.com/y9ylj6gr

It's open to interpretation, especially as I don't know the roads! I just spent a bit of time procrastinating at work y'day searching Google maps for windy roads and elevation gains.

That looks pretty good but you've missed out the best bit of the 3223 over the moors.

On your route where barbrook filling station is look to the right for the 3223 that's the best section a really good hairpin bend for photos then over the moor down to simonsbath where it rejoins your route.

Worth bearing in mind there are some mega potholes here at the moment after the winter.

Love to come to Exmoor but a bit too far for me on a day trip - a good 3-4 hours just getting there and heaven knows what start time!

Would certainly be interested in drives a bit closer to home (Hampshire) or something with 1 or 2 days overnight somewhere.

Just a thought, how about doing the Exmoor run over a Saturday and Sunday.

Travel there Saturday and do some of the route stop, over and maybe a couple of bevvies and a decent meal. finish the route early Sunday morning. This would make it a lot more manageable and maybe more enjoyable. Also that way I could justify it as a mini break and not a day out. I realise this adds alot of planning and organisation but I think it's worth considering. just my thoughts.

I've been going to this show every year since 2009.
It used to be Japfest until it basically got way too big and caused massive traffic jams.
One year it coincided with Badminton Horse Trials* and that was a real doozy!

 * BHT were the ones who caused it by changing the date of their event!

When Japfest moved to Silverstone in 2016, Combe kept the flag flying with JDMCombe.
Japfest has retained the May date and the Combe show date changed to June.

Has anyone noticed any damage to their car since cheddar? I ask because my screen has sustained some suspicious damage which has written the screen off.

Just wondering if something happened in one of the car parks.

I think it is unlikely because my mazda screen has also been cracked so I think it is foul play by someone local. punch

More info in a thread running in GG if your interested. Really could of done without it as the mazda isn't insured so that is coming straight out of my pocket. rolleyes

No damage noticed other than a sandblasted front end. Following the huracan I assume, that thing sucks everything off the road.

Where is this other thread you’re referring to?

Probably down to page 4 or 5 now. It is called 'strange cracked windscreen' it started off with me only knowing about the crack on the renault then later I noticed the mazda. Also a short while ago a small cut appeared on the mazda roof. The odd thing is I cleaned and polished the mazda recently and it had not moved since yet the crack has appeared in that time. I think they were both done on Monday night/Tuesday morning. I drove the renault to and from work on Monday and checked it over when I got home (as I do because I'm sad wink ) and no damage.

My word, i need to keep an eye on PH more. That looked like a stunning run out!!! Was working Saturday night so wouldn't have made it anyways, but for the future this looks cracking!!

Anyone thought about making a FB group so its easier to get notifications?? I seem to get lost in the sub threads of PH so often!!

Same here, the PPF did well but for the first time in 6 years some of the grazes were too deep to heal.

Can inform no other damage to the pork, didn't see anyone remotely dodgy during the whole trip either so seems unlikely?

Yeah I didn't see anyone odd either, I was just trying to see another possibility to avoid damaging the neighbor. Ive now got a couple of lights on sensors over the cars and I'm considering some cameras, if not maybe a pitfall trap and some pointy sticks at the bottom biggrin.
