I've been gliding before but that was a long time ago. Unfortunately, over recent years I seem to have become 'afraid' of heights so I don't think I could do it again It was an amazing experience at the time although the landing was a bit scary
Jo said she'd like to try it so why not?
Phil
Did you guys go?
Don't want to spoil the party or put anyone off but I was on the road past Lasham between Alton and Basingstoke today when I notice behind the hedges a Police car and a BT van with a satellite dish on top. Coming back the other way 3 hours later the van was still there with 2 Police cars and a van and a couple of civillian vehicles but worse was a truck with a flatbed on the back and a smashed up glider with the cockpit covered
Anyone know anything?

Dan and I met up with Bassfiend and his better half (who did go flying). Dan and I could have gone flying, but due to the poor communication within the club that week, no one was prepared for us. They only had one tow plane, on decent two seater and they were running an instructors course that day - we were basically in the way! Dan and I have elected to go back later in the summer to do a full day course, which seems much better value for money.

Tragic stuff. Following the very recent death of my sister's best friend in a skydiving accident (her 200th jump), I was in a bit of a dilemma WRT going gliding - events like this only make it harder to make that decision to partake in hazardous activities. The stats show it's extremely unlikely, but it happens somewhere every year, I think.

From what the radio said yesterday, two gliders collided. One pilot killed and the other with minor injuries after parachuting to safety - not good.
Blimey, that guy did well to parachute out. Julian was saying you'd have to make your mind up pretty quickly to have a chance of getting out.

Sorry to hear about the bad news.
I was gliding from Lasham airfield just last week.
A great experience and also bloody scary. Just putting on a parachute for the first time with no real training was scary enough!
I believe that instances like these are quite rare and people shouldnt be afriad.
I must admit that it has helped to put me off for a while though (although it may even been the excuse I was looking for not to carry on the leasons because my dive during my first leason almost scared the shite out of me).
