Only thing I can think is sonic bang from jets, I've never heard one so don't know but holy st if it was they must have been low.

Same here, scared the life of me.

I'm guessing sonic boom, lack of sirens etc.

Felt it in Leeds too! Thought we were being broken into! Been out in the street but didn't notice anything. Clearly something bigger than that if people in Doncaster heard it!

Was once driving through Lincolnshire and heard my first ever sonic boom. Actually thought I'd crashed or something had hit me, I had to stop to compose and had a short chat with an elderly gentleman around a corner.
He said they happen every now and then around there, couldn't believe how loud, shocking and sudden it was.

Wow never knew they were that powerful.

Looking on my Facebook everybody from all over Yorkshire is reporting the same.

It's all a bit too exciting for me.

2 massive bangs in Wetherby too. Really scary until I heard the plane noises and figured out what it was!

'Intercept flight' & sonic boom.

That sounds interesting.

Now imagine Concorde ran twice the speed with twice the engines biggrin

I wonder if the Russian Bear has been flying along our borders again?

Far too exciting for a school night. I thought my kids had fallen out of their bunk beds, whilst strapped to a filing cabinet. Jesus!

It'd be really interesting to know what they are such a hurry to intercept and do we need to "duck and cover"?

I'm in Harrogate, I thought someone had crashed into the house at first, dived out and heard a loud plane and figured it must've been Maverick with a need for speed!
