That's lovely... Can't be many unmolested examples like that around, what sort of mileage has it done.?
Thanks. Mileage is 108K. It has never been painted and has been kept in a dark garage all its life, so it looks really fresh. The late owner never married and the only passenger was his mother.
He kept every single document and logged every gallon of fuel used with MPG to 3 decimal places in a hand-written log (he was a scientist).
It has the original tax discs & Gilders holder, Blaupunkt push button radio and the tyres are the correct Pirellis to match the wheels.
It even has the salesman's checklist on the rear view mirror from the day of sale 30 years ago.
When I saw it I had to have it!
I do try and use it regularly, but salt would probably destroy it.
A pic from a recent Sunday blast around the Peaks.

Did you just stumble across it?
I've been trying to find an 80s hot hatch in similar condition for a while now.

It was advertised on the Car&Classic website.Did you just stumble across it?

The owner had died suddenly in his 50s and a family friend was selling the car on behalf of the late owner's mother who lived in the adjacent semi.
Some classic dealers were interested but I managed to get there first.
The car was missing its GTI front grille badge when I bought it and I assumed it has been lost or stolen. 6 months later I found one on Ebay and bought it.
It only turned out to be the actual missing badge from my car that had turned up in a bedroom drawer when they cleared the house!
