Cracking find that!
Did you just stumble across it?
I've been trying to find an 80s hot hatch in similar condition for a while now.
It was advertised on the Car&Classic website.Did you just stumble across it?
I've been trying to find an 80s hot hatch in similar condition for a while now.
The owner had died suddenly in his 50s and a family friend was selling the car on behalf of the late owner's mother who lived in the adjacent semi.
Some classic dealers were interested but I managed to get there first.
The car was missing its GTI front grille badge when I bought it and I assumed it has been lost or stolen. 6 months later I found one on Ebay and bought it.
It only turned out to be the actual missing badge from my car that had turned up in a bedroom drawer when they cleared the house!

Golden Acre?
Ah, a fellow Dogger!Right then ya bunch of pansises. This is a proper V8 from the days when men were men and rust was rust.
It is my daily drive for now.

The second car I currently own, never driven it! It is currently at TVR Power for a turbo fit. The colour is similar to a vet's forearm at lambing time.

Love the SD1, but would love it more if it was lowered a tad! It is my daily drive for now.

A couple of turbos on that one would make a great sleeper!
Your Chimaera looks superb and I think 'Vet's Lambing Forearm Pearl' suits it perfectly!
I would imagine it will be very, very fast with a turbo!
Thanks.
Funny you should say that but there is a twin turbo for sale if you fancy one....

The reason for the high ride height of the SD1 is that it is a South African built car so I'm guessing the roads weren't up to much 30 years ago. There was a lot of dust in it - probably from the Kalahari desert.
The Chimaera is having a full engine rebuild as well as the turbo fit. Can't wait to try it out. The power hike is this (allegedly). (taken from website Powers Performance)
"The 4.0 litre supercharger which I took across the Alps, from its original 190bhp and 210lb ft of torque at the rear wheels, delivered in excess of 260bhp with 260lb ft of torque. But the turbo is in another league. From its original 191bhp and 213lb ft of torque at the rear wheels, the Powers Perfomance 4.0 litre RV8 Turbo charger produces 317bhp with 380lb ft of torque running with 15 pounds of boost, or 338 bhp with a huge 427lb ft of torque at the rear wheels running with 20 pounds of boost. That is incredibly 30% more bhp than the supercharger and 64% more torque."
