Hi Justin - going to have to bow out of this one I'm afraid - the Noble has had to go cry

Maybe next year....
This is tragic news - girlfriend and I were both looking forward to a ride out in the M400. My mate's M12GTO 3R is still the fastest thing I've ever sat in!

I've decided I'm going to put my name down for this, I don't know if anyone will be interested in going out in my old shed with a couple of newer Elises there, but if going out in my car makes some little kid's day I'll be chuffed. If you don't mind of course Justin.

Was hoping to be there for the third year running after bringing the Europa the first year and the Elise last year, but with the Elise now up for sale (in the classifieds BTW!) I need to keep the mileage down.

Can guarantee that you will get some punters for the frog Al, it's a great looking car!!

Hope the event goes well Justin - it's always been a great day and highly recommended to anyone who is still wondering whether or not to attend.

Everyone that is attending with their cars need to be at the Jenny Wren for 1030 hrs or there abouts, as I need to get the all the cars registered with a number, give details of the route that will be used for passenger rides and how the day will generally run.

Free coffee and bacon buns will be available for all the car owners doing passenger rides, a good time to meet each other and look around at each other cars before the public turn up etc.

Passenger Rides for the public will start at 1200 hrs (midday) all day, till the public leave. Last year passenger rides finished around 1830 hrs. If car owners wish to leave early for any reason its fine.

Please note the Lambo's and the F40 will be charged at £20.00 for each ride and the rest £10.00 for each, this will help keep the number of rides down on the cars and give the rest of us a chance to do some ridesbiggrin It worked well last year. Just hoping for good weather, fingers crossed.

The main car park of the Jenny Wren Inn will be used for the cars doing the passenger rides ONLY !!.

Each car will be allocated a number which will be placed on the car window. The public choose a car they want to have a passenger ride in. They pay at the booking table, handover their money and are given a passenger ride ticket with car number on it. They hand the ticket to the car owner/driver confirming they have paid for the ride. The driver keeps the ticket(s)and hands them in to the staff at the booking table at the end of the day or when they decide to leave for the day.

If at anytime you which to stop doing passenger rides let the staff at booking table know, and remove your number from the car.

The route used for rides this year is better than last year as , we had to detour due to gritting of surrounding roads by the highways agency.

Before 1200 hrs, in convoy all the cars doing passenger rides will drive the route so they know where to go when they do the passsenger rides. The route will be from Susworth village (Jenny Wren Inn) to Messignham village via Scotter village on the A159 (Gainsborough main 'A' road). This is the best route as it is smooth all the way, has a long straight, and some fast bends with good visibility. Please note the speed limit must be adhered too at all times

Best Route to the Jenny Wren Inn and enable you to fill up on the way.
Come off at Junction 3 of the M180 and continue on the short stretch of motorway to the end, where you will come to a roundabout, take the fourth exit off the roundabout past Tesco and B&Q, come to another roundabout, take the fourth exit onto Scotter Road, continue on this straight road for approximate 2-3 miles, where you will come to another roundabout (SHELL GARAGE LOCATED ON THE LEFT, FILL UP HERE AS IT’S THE CLOSET PETROL STATION AND ASDA IS ON THE RIGHT TO FILL UP).
Continue straight over the roundabout on Scotter Road South, past the Mallard Pub on the right and continue on this straight road, past South Park Industrial, over the motorway via duct , continue straight for 5 miles over a tee junction (40 mph limit possible speed trap area), continue along the same straight road into Scotter (30 mph limit), at the tee junction turn right into Scotter village, come to a intersection junction opposite on the right is the Gamekeeper Pub, turn right past the pub, onto High Street Road, continue on this road past housing and continue on this road back out of Scotter village to Susworth village (sign posted) for 5 miles, come into Susworth Village and the Jenny Wren Inn is on the right, park in the main carpark.

I will update again and thanks to you all for your support.

Justin,

A quick question regarding our liability at the event. Do you have any standard indemnity forms which you ask passengers to sign? While I’m not the world’s fastest driver, what happens if they’re sick or suffer a heart attack or generally have a rubbish time and decide to sue? What about if the worst happens and there is an accident? Do we rely on our regular vehicle insurance to cover passengers in the car? How have people covered it with insurance previously? Would you recommend discussing it with our insurers in case it is considered outside of the scope of our conventional use for the vehicle?

Don’t wish to sound really boring, but it’s much better to ask the question before, rather than after!

Thanks,

Andy

Your insurance should cover you and your passengers as your not making money from the rides as it is for charity. No need for indeminty forms as vehicles should be driven in accordance with highway code.

Cheers, Justin. Fingers crossed there won't be any issues anyway. I'm naturally risk-averse so like to have all boxes ticked when it comes to my liability on these matters.

I'm most likely coming along to this in my 420bhp RS4 - is it worth offering rides?

Sorry Justin but the Tuscan is not going to make it this weekend. Had the gearbox out twice to try and fix the clutch but still no luck. Im dissapointed to miss it after two brilliant previous years but hope it is just as successful.
Will be down for a couple of rides, see you saturday.

Id like to say a big thanks to you for organising the event, and to all the guys who turned up in their cars, one of the best days out ever. Theres nothing quite like riding shotgun in a 911 gt3 rs, with a gtr following you, then jumping into an f40 and hearing those turbos spool up before your launched into the back of the seat. The sound from your 348 was just sublime! [I was the guy with seat issues tongue out]

Really look forward to attending again next year

Thanks to everyone, the car owners and public for supporting this event. If it was not for all you the event could not happen. Thanks again. The weather was poor. Spending all day today cleaning the 348 and have the keys to the F40, as it is parked at my mums till Tuesday. So I will be cleaning the awesome F40 today with 348, typical the weather is sunshine and blue skies today!!.

I am not sure how much we raised, but will post shortly.

The Nissian GTR was towed home in the end with transmission fault by the RAC covery truck, would not move at all, it is a ECU software problem (Over heating of transmission fluid. Awesome car but to much electronic stuff on it.

I hope you're taking some pictures of the two Ferraris side-by-side Justin, it was a great day out for us, just a pity that the Elise wasn't working properly.

Sorry to hear about the GTR, it was great hearing it growling up the road.

Reminds me about this though:

Feel awful for missing this - we were really looking forward to it. I've been wanting to get involved in something similar since I first encountered Sporting Bears. Next year maybe...

Really hope it went well, Justin. Sorry again and hope the weather didn't ruin things too much.
