Yorkshire Run 2

Yep, the roads weren't the best for serious hooning, more the pleasant drive on a sunny day type, but to be fair ..
Our east yorks dawn raids are the ones that are more suited to lower cars. The routes are specifically designed for speed, emptiness and good sight lines ... so not many 6' dry stone walls!
A big thanks to my good friend and pilot for the day Rob - that car is truly an awesome package ... glad you saw the light eventually mate ... though I now fear a return to Modena may be on the cards sooner than I feared ... I let you explain to Vicki at BTaP
And also to Mark for all the effort organising it

When Mark and I tested the route some weeks back it was great in the Noble but I felt the roads were probably more suited to the Scoob so the Evo will be great fun!!
... so we were warned. I think Robs CS was saved many a time because the suspension is so stiff it hardly ever manages to bottom out, although he was taking it pretty steady on the bumpy bits ... which was quite often. Our east yorks dawn raids are the ones that are more suited to lower cars. Thanks for organising the run Mark. It was a cracking prelude to the CITP.
Nice to see such a good turn out and variety of cars. Yes, the roads are bumpy, but it's the Yorkshire Dales and it's to be expected. I guess the really low, supercar exotica aren't built for roads like that, but the Tam only bottomed out slightly once in the whole 100 miles - but that could just be down to me driving it like a wuss
And as for the CS taking it steady - looked pretty quick to me - it must be amazing on a smooth road!

No probs Al it was good catching up mate, unfortunately the roads were not ideal for the CS,no damage or stone chips. I think the covering of cow shit protected it.pbsaxman said:

Mr Evo - I forgot to mention you were chucking out a lot of browny-black exhaust gasses under acceleration.
Just thought I'd tell you just in case you didn't already know.
Yeah i know its just plenty of fuel flowing through them lovely big 1000cc injectors Nowt to be concerned about. Now if you had said white or blue smoke i would have been worried Just thought I'd tell you just in case you didn't already know.
Thanks again for telling me.

I was only behind you a short time cos the blue Tamora overtook me when I was taking it easy over Buttertubs - my daughter doesn't like big drops so I eased up.
1000cc injectors thats like a little magic elf with a bucket chucking fuel in.

thanks guys, glad people enjoyed it, think i maybe need to be clearer next time that the roads in them thar moors aint best suited to exotica...still, i do try to put the emphasis on driving at your own pace. Looking out of the window as i put this looks like winters come early so i dont know whether ill be organising another this year, and if i do it'll be short notice. Great to see lots of smiles and happy faces at the end of the run. Unfortunatly the octavia seems to of developed a knocking, hopefully im right in thinking its the anti roll bar bushes (common problem on that chassis)

When I swung off to follow the A1 south and you cruised past to follow the M1 I looked across and the CS just looked superb, like it was just floating. Gotta say ... SUITS YOU SIR!Goldmember said:
What suprised me on that run was that gold wheelie bin of mine wasn't half bad across the hills as I dont really rate its handling much .. and dammit Mark in that Octavia VRS... jeees's .... never seen one of those driven like that !!!
must admit i was v.impressed with the bravery going on in the cerb! seems like the rep for being a widow maker due to handling is not so... well, not so when driven by hairy chested northern men. was to be expected that you were pretty much stuck to my bumper like the poo on your bonnet but i did my best(doesnt help coming up short by about 200bhp and drive going to the wrong wheels) but pleased to hear you didnt think i was holding you up too much! Hi, thanks for a great run, shame that I had to leave you in the middle too.

Thanks Mark, excellent day out.
I got back home around 4:00 pm watched the GP and went straight to bed.
The Griff looks like she’s been driven through a bath of cow s**t, I’ve a tide mark all the way round. Haven’t dared look at that state of my sump yet it took some more damage, but hey they are meant to be driven after all, I just should have backed of a bit more and I’m not going under there until the afore mentioned has been washed off.
I’ll post a few pics tonight.
Thanks again to Mark and to Chris for the CIP what a day…
Cheers,
Simon.

I should have stuck on and kept with the group for the rest of the run, as the roads got alot better i hear.
Wasnt in the best of moods, and was mega tired, so called it a day early.
I'll most probably be in a better mood for the next run.
(and check the route for splitter friendly roads first)
