Closure of Lendal Bridge in York
Discussion
Just to let people know, in case they've missed this gem.
York City Council have decided to shut the bridge, the one closest to the station, to all cars for a trial period of 6 months.
As you can imagine this is going to be a real issue for residents needing to cross town, to the hospital or station for example.
There is a petition pointing out the stupidity of this on the York council local gov website.
I'd encourage anyone to sign it, it takes 2 minutes, and may just make the clowns think again.

Possibly because its still the middle of the summer holidays?
Wait until its wet and every ones back at work, the real volumes and chaos can then be judged.
Just made a journey out of town to the north from the city centre that I make twice a week.
Its added ten minutes to the journey time, without the schools being in and also being in the middle of the day with pretty light traffic.
Much larger queing all around the inner ring road than you'd normally expect.
Can't wait to see what happens under a more normal traffic load....

I was sat having a coffee on Sunday morning, about 11.00am, just next to the bridge in the new coffee shop near the library, epic bacon sarnies by the way.
In around 10-15 minues more than a dozen cars went through.
At the rate they're going they'll be able to reduce council tax soon!
Still blocked solid around past the Barbican along to Foss Islands every day mind.

Liebour have blocked a democratic vote on re-opening by talking until time ran out.
Clearly scared of democracy and letting the people have a say in their city.
Do as I say, not as I do.
Bunch of pinko tts.

An actual democratic vote?
Who'd have thunk it from The Dear Leader JA?
Shame the people of York where never trusted to make that call.
I hope resignations follow shortly.
