Buzz still in place!
I'm trying to fix my last run in mind so as to duplicate it next time, vain hope but what a blast. It was more fun with the Fury despite initial reservations and in moving from an Impreza the track 'seemed' to have more room. So Murray etc give it a go.
Whatever you do don't get mentioned in the programme as it brought Russell no luck!

what happened to Russell? Off?

Apparently happened before Murray and I got there ... so what I'm about to say is, very much, second hand. I believe that he clipped the RHS at Tunnel bounced off the left, bounced off the right again and then ended up with the car on top of the ARMCO pretty much at Junction.
I only caught a glimpse of the car but we were told that the chassis was bent for sure.
Nae good.
If any of the above is inaccurate, someone please correct me.
Cheers,
Eric

Aye John, I'm gonna do it for sure next year ... ... although not quite sure in which class (Stiglet - are you listening?) ...
I'm already looking at JR's advice and the Martin Groves vid.
See you at Alford.
Cheers,
Eric

Where exactly is Alford?

The way Stiglet drives you would need a satelite navigation system to find him at Doune.
Nah, you'd always hear me (mad bad bda!)
Alford - see www.gtm.org.uk/map.htm
S'let
NB My first hillclimb was Doune, in fact the first time I blew an engine to bits was at Doune ('67 Longman Cooper S in 1988) - didn't leave any oil though

Eric - Does that mean there's a pink-lilac megablade for sale? (or just the 'blade bittie perhaps?)
S'driver - why don't you put in an entry for Alford and see - a helmet, romper suit ,MSA licence and zero instinct for self-preservation are all that's required

Some of us are too old for single-seaters I think - apparently the telemetry on the Dean Gould showed 124mph before Oak Tree, 126 into Garden Gate, and 136mph before braking for Junction. Prior to the shunt, Dean was the fastest EVER to the first split, and had a second split from an earlier run in the day that, if he could have repeated it, would have put him under the Doune record...

Doune was always my favourite climb.
Not sure of the classes now, it's been such a long time, how would a road going Mini with an MG metro engine fair nowerdays? would I get totally stuffed?

how cares how it'd do? the challenge is against yourself! plus it'd be great fun!
to be honest, there's a lot of very standard cars competing on the hills, I don't think you'd be embarassed. There's a fairly standard Metro GTa on the hills, some fairly standard Pugs, Golfs and stuff. They just blend in, no-ones a snob which is great, folk just appreciate that others are out there doing it.
(you know you want to compete!)

Fergus, that last shot is an absolute corker.
Do you have an uncropped one that shows the (driver's) left hand side?
Cheers,
Eric

Well given he's exactly a year older than you, and you have a significant zero in 2 months time I think you both are!!!
Whereas I of course am Sooo young I can carry on for years!!
Seriously, back to 'Should I do Doune' question - go for it! I have very fond memories of my first sub 60 with Roger the Broomstick - 59.96 to be exact - a few years ago, and standing (bouncing)around in the top paddock threatening to divorce David and marry the car as he (Roger!)gives me more pleasure and that pleasure lasts longer... David will dispute this but now we're doing 56 seconds I still stay the same!!
