Newcomers Track Day @ KH April 18th
Discussion
Hi all,
I am the 'lairy' one in the blue S2k as somebody put it, appologies if I upset anybody but I certainly enjoyed it, seemed a very well organised event. My mate in the siver S2 overcooked it slightly and spun off, but the gravel traps certainly did their job. Look forward to seeing you all again next time !!

I would love to go back again, a bit worried about doing a proper trackday, are there alot of cars on track at the same time ? The amount on Wed was perfect
Cant comment on actual numbers but I should imagine that KH will only allow a set amount of cars on at a time, so as to avoid constant traffic.
By all accounts the days that KH themselves run and the SIDC/RS days are all very well organised and usually without incident.

My insurance was up for renewal last week (S1 lotus elise). I changed to Heritage. They cover an unlimited number of trackdays, as long as you are a member of the car club organising the event. Heritage were only £40 dearer than Bell Direct, who were the cheapest last year. Mind you this isn't my main car.
I did my first tracknight with the Alfa Romeo Club last Friday and it was great. Godd bunch of guys. the pace was perhaps a bit more sedate than an SIDC day and also there were quite a lot of cars sitting in the pits at any one time.

You could also try CCCI (www.competition-car-insurance.co.uk/) for individual trackday cover, but expect this to be at least £90 per event.

Knockhill do limit the numbers and adjust it somewhat depending on driving behaviour, although I've never been at a track day where they felt the need to limit - on most trackdays there are busy and quiet periods on track and its usually very easy to find your own "space" on the track.
As for track insurance - on a day by day basis its as rare as rocking horse sh1t, very expensive (between £200-£300 per session) and usually big excess (£3-4K). If you look in the right places some brokers can get it included in your standard road policy, I've heard A-manning are good for this.

Just got another good quote from A Manning, but seems to be going up dramatically this year!
Also seems like my front right brake pads in the Box have given up the ghost - even with that gentle driving!
Good to hear the silver s2000 was not damaged!
Blue s2000 - looked like you were having fun - both you guys really surprised me with just how fast those s2000's are - may need to get myself a M3 CSL just to keep up.....
