Tracks in Scotland

Ah, memories of Ingliston...........
Dougie Niven in a 5.7 litre Mk1 Escort! Graham Birrel, Jenny Birrel, Gerry Marshall. All in the sixties and early seventies, of course.
I remeber particularly when the Auto Gyro from the Bond movie You Only Live Twice was doing a demo during one race meet, my father provided his Aston Martin DB5 to add a touch of "realism". It was the wrong colour! (Very dark purble!)
Further back, Charterhall, watching a young Jackie Stewart blasting the opposition into the weeds!
I have heard that there is interest being shown in re-opening Charterhall. It needs a huge amount of money, it's in the middle of nowhere, and very exposed. The bridge over the track went missing, but I know exactly where it is and who has it.
If Croft can attract the BTCC and others, and Charterhall being close to the border, there is hope for it, but it needs support.
Jim Clark cut his teeth there, and the Jim Clark museum is nearby in Duns, although there were rumours that it is to close.

Anyone remember Stan the Clan ?
Old bloke, that was from one of the Islands, used to race at Knockhill and Ingleston on a Shoe String budget.
Stan suffered a heart attack whilst at a Knockhill race meeting a few years ago. Fortunately he was in the paddock and a nearby competitor (who happens to be a GP) was able to resusitate him. He ocassionally pops up in the paddock and until a couple of years ago was still doing track days at Knockhill (whilst "out shopping").
Haven't seen him for a while now, but also haven't heard anything worse...
