I will be putting on some spit and polish on the wedge on Saturday, and hopefully joining the WYTVRCC lot at Harewood on Sunday for the classic car show.

I hope the weather picks up...

Someone from the Northeast has dropped out, so I can go and collect my ticket this evening.

P*ssing down here at the moment it is

I was going to be taking the rad out......AGAIN

But after getting the otter switch out and replacing the new knackered seal without removing the rad and keeping most of my fingers in the process.....Castle Coombe.

well having made up some new carpets and stuck them all in place apart from the ones that need binding ,i shall be rebuilding the interior ( nearly done now) and hopfully fitting new seatbelts if i can find any and then cleaning anything else up that looks a bit tatty as a lot of things had come unstuck , and then trying to fit the switch veneer bit as it has been bodged the switches are fitted to a steel plate then this veneer bit is just plonked on top of it all as the holes for the switches are too small and i'm sure it would all look better if the switches sat on the veneer and not left under it. so that will be it for the weekend and i hope to get it finished as i want to get the car out for a run ......ian

If it's fine , on Saturday she will get washed and polished and driven to Bournmouth for my future SiL's stag-do and back in the early hours (I'm not drinking as I have to be back home early Sunday morning).

If it's wet , I'll be in the Jeep

At the moment the forecast looks "reasonable" ... but who can tell. Just off to consult seaweed and fir cones - about as reliable at the Met Office .

PS - washed and polished in the morning sunshine. Now one hour from departure time ... and it's started raining - S

PPS - OK. It stopped Departed home towards dark clouds and suggestion of rain ahead. Pulled into the first Sh3ll garage I came to for a top up (there are none locally) and the heavens opened! After filling up to the brim (and you know how long that takes!) I departed as the rain stopped. About five minutes later it started lashing it down again, but my speed was 70 (ish ) and only some of the water flying off the top of the windows came into the car . Hit a roundabout a tad too fast and had a very interesting "moment" (to the probably horror of the guy I'd just passed), but the sharp end of the Wedge stayed ahead of the blunt end (in "rev-erend at the Jolly Sailor" style). Got to the "do" in Bournmouth and discovered I'd dropped my credit card at the garage. Rang up and they found and secured it. Enjoyed my evening and drove home in the gathering night. The garage was shut, so I'll have to retrace my steps this AM. And it's overcast, but it isn't raining - S

PPPS - while I was away, the 2nd varnish coat on my reveneered dash dried nicely - S

My 390SE centre console is like this, however Dexy's 350 has the switches mounted on top of the veneer and IMHO it does look tidier. The holes are smaller than the switches on my car as you say: I think the intention was to disguise the ageing switches and make the thing look more modern. Mine's an '87, Dexy's is an '86, maybe there was a changeover around then?

Ian - use self-adhesive Velcro (R) tape to secure the veneered false front to the steel plate. It works a treat and is so simple - Streaky

Oh - another job to do :

Adjust the accelerator pedal up to nearer the level of the brake pedal - so I can toe and heel properly.

Austec - changed it for me ... when it was OK to start with (thanks..) !

Well - job done !

I've adjusted the throttle pedal up - it started 7.5~8 cm below the brake pedal and it's not 4cm below the brake pedal.

At last - I'll be able to toe and heel proberly.

Of course it would improve my driving but at least I can blip on the down change now

Oh - I also managed to get one of the 'thick' speaker cables in the front door - just one cable took an hour to do

I didn't realise that was you in the blue wedge. I had to miss out on the fun as my battery was over the other side of the arena getting charged up! Anyway, there are still many tidying jobs to do on my wedge before I parade around in it

Next year....

Yep, it's a fairly unusual bonnet.

I'll be at BBWF for sure, shall we convoy it with Stainless Steve?
