Waynester - you won't regret it - like so many others before and as Neil says: Richard will tailor whatever work you want done with recommendations to suit and of course will do a top job.. it's never as bad as you first think.. (he says: one new chassis/respray and god knows what else later - mmm, not quite sure why I'm laughing.. ah yes - it's that mad TVR moment )

"but they all need preserving"

seconded and thirded

When I got mine I sort of went with my eyes open thanks to the people here. I went with buyers guide (which I kinda forgot when there!) and did speak to the previous owner.

Still am busy doing lots of little(r) jobs

Don't give up

Waynester,
I've been painting the chassis on mine as well and I agree it takes ages.

Look at the excellent article wedg1e wrote on outriggers if you havn't seen it already:-
www.tvrwedgepages.co.uk/
(It's under 'Maintenance' , 'Chassis Repairs')

I was quite lucky with mine and the sills were fine, the tubes had hardly any rust on it at all, the bits that took more rubbing down were the rear sill plate and the bottom of the 'B' pillar where it mounts to the plate. The bad news is if these are bad your seat belt might not be very secure.
Sorry, I'm not cheering you up much here..

Like every one has said there is a fair amount of room to weld a new tube on if you need it, so it may not be as bad as you might think.
I took some pictures when I was painting mine, I can scan them in and e-mail you if it would help.

Gareth.

Wud love to see my 350i re done as in the picks posted and I am sure the 6k plus price tag is worth every penny for all the bits n bobs n bells on, but, what would a 350i done to such a high standard be worth????
New to this and gunna run it for a year or so before doing anything as drastic as this but need to get the sums rite, even tho I know the heart will rule the head when it gets down o the nitty gritty

I wouldn't advise doing the " Full Monty" if you are hoping to recoup your money in a potential resale . Although Big Wedge prices do seem to be holding or even increasing can't see them realising purchase price and restoration costs . Knew this when we went in to it , it relly was a case of heart over head .

Peninsula quote was 4.5k plus VAT, thought that was reasonable
For that you get body off chassi restoration blasted red oxide then powder coated, Adjustable koni shocks all round, braided hoses fitted , new bushes.
sending the proper quote through post rekon at that money its not out so started puttin money away for Sept October time
