Tourists are out and walking by trying to work out what it is.....(every time I hear "TR7" I'm up banging on the window shouting READ THE BADGE!!
I know the type. Mine has been a "Triumph TVR, very unreliable" by pub expert to his son one day. Also annoying is if you start it up, they think the exhaust is blowing.......
Must go and check to see if it's still blowing

New water pump and replacement THERMOSTAT HOUSING
fitted, along with a hose to replace the one I melted a while ago, ahem. New alternator half-fitted, missing nut to keep pulley+fan on as it's different thread to old one. Further remodelling of window channels.

PS Fixed my m'bike too, so didn't get Wedge finished.

I've finally gotten around to fitting 6*9 rear speakers .. no east job - only managed 1 in 4 hours as they are located next to the seat belt inertia reels !
A new alarm is being fitted tomorrow ... hopefully the guys will turn up.
I've also take the centre dash to LCC to be re-veneered.

Fitted the Jag airflow meter as promised, trailered car to private test track :cough::bullshit:.
First impressions are that it works. However I was running without the air filter
- not something I do normally but couldn't wait to try it!
There seem to be a couple of spots where the throttle response is 'different'; this could be any number of things, not least of which being that the resistor matrix has slightly different values to those in the original AFM (we're only talking about 1 or 2 ohms, but when the resistors are in the region of 10 to 20 ohms, 10% may be significant). In addition, I haven't adjusted the idle mixture and the exhaust smells rather rich, although it does make for a grunty response...
Tonight I stripped the 390's original AFM to compare it: it's evidently already been for a recon as it has an Intermotor part number with a Bosch cross-ref, so I wasn't too concerned with breaking any seals. The Jag unit had never been opened as far as I could tell, but it had some leaks, so I thought I may as well double-check the original. Anyway it seems OK; the bearings and shimming are fine, no stickiness to the flap (ooer missus!) and the temp. sensor and pot are OK too. Which is nice.
Next steps: I've ordered some 100mm aluminium bar from which to turn up an intake hose adapter, then I'll make up new mounting plates for the K&N filter (the stud spacings differ between the AFMs) and a bracket to mount the Jag AFM onto the 390s original (easier than fabbing a whole new bracket to the bodyshell!); adjust the idle mixture; find some FAT injectors
and buy an Esprit

I never cease to be amazed at how technical and expert you guys are - I feel both envious and ashamed!
Years ago I would work on cars - replace head gaskets etc.. But I just don't want to do it any more! Maybe if i had a proper workshop, tools, more knowledge, were fitter than I am now..............
Ho hum.

How did the non-disarming of your alarm manifest itself? I have a problem with my Ferrari and wonder whether it might have something to do with the alarm/immobiliser.
Nither of the key fobs would dis arm it.. tried new batteries , also tried removing car battery for a few mins (to reset alarm) but nothing worked.
Alarm was 5 years old - so I thought it's time for a new one - as with all these kind of things with labour at about £60/hr it costs more to fix than to replace.
Old alarm had a 2 year warrenty ..
What Ferrari have you got ?

Thanks for the compliment. However, if it were not for the fact that I can do so much myself, I wouldn't have a TVR because I certainly couldn't afford to keep paying someone else to fix it. In fact that goes for any car!
