What's happening in your garage this weekend ?
Discussion
Got the rear of the car up on ramps in the garage yesterday. General inspection and service including greasing and fuel filter change.
Anyone got a list of grease nipples that I should be seeing too?
Also tips for changing the fuel filter and anything to be aware of? any part number or link to correct one etc. I would like to have the correct one to hand once I remove old!
On inspecting the car at the back (first time since I had a look at it on the ramp at T v R), I am reminded why I bought the car as it does look good with solid chassis etc, even the rear brake pads look relatively unworn.
One thing might need more inspect though is drip of oil from off the bottom of the silencer, which obviously running from the top but can's see any leak from the usual suspect like rear gearbox prop shaft seal, any ideas please?

Check all the rubber fuel pipe for cracks .. particularly the larger 1 inch pipes. Anyone got a list of grease nipples that I should be seeing too?

Assume the oil leak is on the centre box?? usual suspects are the output shaft seal but if its coming from the top then it will be the remote linkage or the speedo drive depending on the side. Clean off and monitor put carboard under the car over night / weekend to check as it will stain the cardboard. Remove the gear gator and have a look from top.
Fuel filter is the high pressure can type (LandRover Disco or Rover SD1 v8 EFi) available anywhere on the interweb. Replacement is straight forward but you will need some good quality hose clamps to block off the fuel while working. I always fit a low pressure filter in front of the pump as well as the main hi pressure one after the pump.

Gearbox and center box all look fine Chris and very little dripping if any, its just that I have had on a couple of occasions needed to wipe oil (ready for dripping) off the underside of the silencer.Chris
I think as suggested, I'll check the remote linkage for a seal and as you suggest maybe the speedo cable input.
Anyone confirm if this is the right fuel filter?
Thanks
