Delilah is in for the second part of surgery

Did some cleaning of the engine today but the graphite paint i used on the blower has been contaminated with a seepage of oil from the front housing of the blower it seems..This did happen when i first sprayed it, I made sure the bolts were tight and i did use etching primer but had to keep cleaning it off and spraying over it again!..I kind of wish i had stuck to my guns more..The plan was to polish it and detail the grooves in Red HT paint..
..I just hope there is no leakage from the blower..That would be a right pain..Will have to see what happens when we start it..Its a shame the silicone joiners didnt turn up as i have a feeling that this re-routing of the pipework will foul the bonnet a little, Its also going to be extremely tight to change plugs, Belts and hoses!..
Just means there will be more swearing when it comes to doing any of the aforementioned...Removed the fuel cooler as it was not connected anyway..I think this was done as the original air-box had only a standard capri air-box which was limited to hot air from the rad and no cold air feed..I modified the air-box and put a K&N on instead which is positioned in the nosecone..Im hoping the alternator is efficient...Its an 80amp..The EPS pump has a heavy wire feed with a 50amp fuse and a 75amp relay..It has been wired to the position 1 of the ignition..Cheers for looking...Ziga

I was told that the hammer was used to lower the compression....![eek](/inc/images/eek.gif)
That is how they lower the compression isn't it? ![eek](/inc/images/eek.gif)

Looking good from the pics so far though, although they are aware that the plenum top can be fitted on t'other way round to go straight from the charger and in to the throttle body?

So where have you hidden the PAS pump matey?
Hi Chris..The pump is tucked down in front of the rad and mounted on the plate that is welded to the chassis that sits under the rad..I might have to feed some cool air in from outside and direct it towards the lower half of the rad..I have also the bonnet scoop to fit and the extractors for stationary heat build up...Cheers..Zigamk2 24v said:

Hi mate..Yes..That was the original way of doing it with the original pipework and the rocker covers would be swapped over as well..I suppose now that its being done with silicone and steel pipe that could be an option now..![scratchchin](/inc/images/scratchchin.gif)
Hi peeps..Well its good and bad news..The bad news is that the silicone hoses are being sucked shut..I should of known better really!..The heater cold air intake box for the interior fan had to be removed!..The amethyst ignition system is a waste of money!..The battery light on the alternator is not working!..The routing of pipework would fail the bonnet!..I came home alone!..The good news is that i stuck to my guns and routed the pipes the way i intended originally..The Alternator charges the battery and has a year warranty..(Should do for £238)!..I used the distributor that came with the S/C kit which is a bosch but with a boost vacuum diaphragm on it..Delilah started after a bit of a charge to the battery..You can hear me panic in the first vid..
..We have ordered some stainless steel pipes for mon-Tue..So should have her back tuesday the latest..Bit of a disappoinment but its better to get it right than to rush it..Need to move the coil so that the washer bottle can be refitted..Cheers...Ziga

The intake pipe shuts first which renders the blower useless so the engine has to work hard to suck air through the blower & the restricted Blue intake pipe, which then causes the Red ones to collapse. I recon if you change the Blue intake pipe first for a stainless jobbie the red ones won't collapse...... but they might swell. ![hehe](/inc/images/hehe.gif)
Looks great though Zig. A set of rigid pipes on there & you'll be sorted.![yes](/inc/images/yes.gif)

After replacing the blue ones, if the red ones swell too much you could cut some bands out of stainless pipe and put them over the red pipes.
On mine the hose sections are quite short, only an inch or so of free hose between rigid sections. Also the hose itself has webbing embedded in it I think.

Cheers chaps..Overall im pleased and once the steel pipes are in it should be good to go..Delilah is going to be a right old goer.. ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)

But why won't the Amethyst work mate, surely it's just a case of mapping it?
And it's got boost reference right?
Confused![confused](/inc/images/confused.gif)
Hi Dave..Unfortunately the amethyst doesnt recognise the distributor or TDC..They swapped it over for one with points and tested it and it was ok but im not going backwards to move forward..I think it will be used a bit later as its recommended to use their ignitor with it..Bit naughty really as they advertise it as a straight forward fit which is compatible with 4-6-8 cylinders..When i phoned them they admitted they had no maps for the V6 colognes..All is not lost though..Its a temporary set back which hasnt stopped the progress...Cheers...Ziga![clap](/inc/images/clap.gif)

I'm sorry to hear about the Amethyst Mark, it is a bit naughty of them not to explain things better in their advertising.![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)

On the face of it the Amethyst looked like a cost effective solution, my understanding was it used the distributor as the engine speed sensor and it would have a TDC reference.
I guess that's only once you've fitted their igniter kit too
![rolleyes](/inc/images/rolleyes.gif)
I would be surprised if you couldn't just fit a trigger wheel on the crank pulley and a VR sensor to the front cover to give it the TDC reference and engine speed, just like you would with a MegaJolt or the Omex 200.
A trigger wheel & VR sensor are cheap enough and straightforward to fit, and I stand by the fact that a mappable spark with boost reference will be infinitely superior to a distributor.
But I guess you can look at it again as a secondary project once you've run the car for a while, at least you know the distributor will work, TBH I didn't realise you had the original one with the retard module on it.
In defence of Aldon, I wouldn't expect them to offer ignition maps for every application, all these aftermarket systems require mapping which is why there are specialists offering this very service.
If you took the Amethyst to a decent mapper I expect he'd having up & running & all mapped in an afternoon.
If your local mapper doesn't fancy working with the Amethyst just return the system & fit a MegaJolt, Omex 200 or Canems ignition only.
All three being well supported systems that effectively do the same thing.
Sorry if you feel I misled you over the Amethyst but it does sound like all you need is the addition of their igniter kit and it would be working & giving you the undeniable benefits of mappable ignition.
It's a lovely project and looks very neatly installed, I'm sure even with the supercharger distributor it will be safe & offer game changing levels of performance
Keep up the good work mate
