Might even have a decent paint job then?? :-)
Well done for waiting Steve, I thought you could be waiting quite a while being as there is so few of them.
Oh.. and Happy Birthday, I guess you have the birthday present to youself sorted, hopefully.
Gareth.
Chaps,
Good to be a bit contrenversial. SEAC's as Tim states have various differences to other Wedges but take care the main visual difference is the nose and there are a few "fakes" out there some of which I beleive had the nose made by the factory. Of all the Wedges I've had over the past 14 years no two (of the same model type)have been identical in structure/layout. As Tim or was it Steve stated few were Aramid Composite as the body was lighter but lost it structural ridgidity and some crazing on the paint occured so back to GRP they went. No idea how many AC's were made. If you can get a 450SEAC with a genuine AC body, rosejointed/adjustable (Factory spec on some cars) suspension in good nick and low miles - I'd agree Steve - rarety would make it worth the dosh. On previous forum chat I mentioned a 450 SEAC (H or J 5 EAC) was for sale last year (Jan - Mar Sprint) and the guy said he'd be hanging on to the car but would have taken circa £14k Good luck.
Steve. My 420's a Shed and has no spoiler and the 450 has had it swapped for a 450 SE unit (Muppet) so needed a genuine item.
Mr. Vaughan - My 400 SE was valued at £19k 18 months ago but like those on Autotrader at £7995 - £8995. It's all about what you can sell it for.
Anyway - price! Tis indeed bollocks - we love the Wedge and who cares if you can get a Griff 500 for the same £ as a good Wedge - Loadsa noise enjoy the Sun this WE.

Nice to hear from you Garry! How about a picture of your bevvy of beauties? I would love to see a line up of a 350i, a 400SE, and a 420 and 450 SEAC. Surely as an enthusiast and a computer literate person you will have many pictures of your cars (hopefully lined up side by side as you mentioned yesterday). Bullsh*t detector on high alert...

Good luck with the SEAC - hope it's a good car
and you can agree on a fair price.
I was in a bit of take it or leave it mood when I
bought mine .. had to decide between a fairly good
450 SEAC or a Tamora... off to look at the 350T
this afternoon - as there is still space in my
double garage for another car !!

Mk2 your right it's tosh - all the cars can't be lined up and photo'd as there in diffenrent locations (not rich enough for a multi car garage) {mind could use photosuite as per front page of Feb sprint!}and 2 are "sheds" (only way I can afford them!!).Giz an e mail address and photo's of the various bits of wedge stuff (a lot of it is tut)including the 420 shed available.
Has anyone seen the 420 (Yellow) on autotrader - it's had a colour change from Azure blue with white leather to yellow with grey leather - thoughts?

Cheers Gareth fingers crossed
As for the one for sale in Autotrader: I believe I looked at it about 18 months ago (sounds as if it was the one that was for sale by an 'unmentioned' dealer in East London Exeter). With 'supposedly' 18,000 original miles, it was so tatty, that I didn't even drive it. And that is after travelling from Germany to look at it! Avoid it unless you can get if for less than 10K, 'cause you'll easily have another 5K in it.

My mate's VERY tidy 400SE cost him £15K three and a bit years ago.
My 390 (admittedly rarer, but high mileage and nothing like mint condition) cost me £6.5K a few months later (I'll have had it 3 years in August! time flies).... with hindsight, someone saw me coming...
I met one of the former owners of my car up in Scotland: he'd been into HHC at Harrogate and bought a gold 400SE in fair condition for £7.5K (about early/ mid 2001). I spoke to Joolz later and he said the chassis on that car had had some work done but needed more. The engine bay was far from tidy.
There definitely seems to be a rose-tinted specs aspect to Wedge pricing. Taken as a collection of parts, I'd say my car is 'worth' about 2 grand. But as it has a TVR badge on it, the hypeometer kicks in and it 'must' be worth £4-5K? However if I was selling I'd probably start at the price I paid and see what happened...
It's scary how these things turn into money-sponges: one of the previous owners spent £13K in maintenancce and repairs in 5 years: the last guy before me spent over £8K in a little over 2 years. I've probably put in another £1500-2000 in 2.5 years, plus countless hours tinkering and adjusting and writing the workshop manual... ;-)
