Wedge prices......Again.
Discussion
A fairly standard/pointless thread at the moment, investors at all levels are not seeing the returns wanted, so your options invest in regular investments, or buy a toy car and have a bit of fun, when you get bored of the car unload it. So more potential buyers at the moment prices go up.
My other 'wedge' I bought earlier this year, buying it earlier than I intended to as it was fairly obvious prices were climbing and were likely to go silly, they did, prices increased by 50%, which I couldn't justify, then I would then of opted for a cheaper model of the same marque. So just the same as has happened wedges.
But which wedges will get hit with the greater inflation, I personally can't see it being the rough or modified ones (my opinion only)
Which then takes us to the state of some of the wedges out there, if you buy a car for 2-3K how good do you really expect it to be? Cost of parts is 'relatively' low, but labour will always be the killer, when I rebuilt my wedge (TVR one) I had the paint and interior done out, the rest done by myself, down to blasting, powder coating, machining.... The list goes on, I never totalled up the spend, but would estimate it at 25k, that was in 1994! Today's classic car parts prices have also become somewhat inflated. I was possibly a little OCD on my rebuild, but even so I for one can't see a quality rebuild at a reputable dealer for less than 25k, this is my view on a rebuild, and what you start with doesn't affect the final bill so much as most will go in the bin/be overhauled regardless. Mark I think your estates are either conservative or will be shoddy quality. You only have to look at the opening pages here to see the problems people are fumbling about with obviously little understanding of what they are doing, not the best advert if a well cared for car!! As forum user elsewhere has as his standard footer, please post your VIN so we can avoid your car if it comes for sale, always makes me chuckle.
So yes prices up (for now), then the bubble will burst (again) and prices will settle somewhere between the was price and now price.
An entry level or parts car will remain just that regardless of the market swings, but the well cared for cars, for the moment who knows, oh what's that I hear in the distance......pop!

I thought she was bought recently...Poor ole Delilah nobody loves her!...If you can hear me D..I still do..She's a good solid reliable Wedge..She could do with some new underwear..(Interior)..She recovered well from all the trauma of 2 heart transplants which has made her stronger although the mileage is less than quoted..I took her from the gutter and taught her to speak but now needs to be taken that bit further..Just like Eliza doolittle...Except she's Delilah Wedge and you know when she's in town..(119db)... Whoever takes her on will have the opportunity to acquire a full blow job ...(The blower kit will bolt straight on if you want it)..200bhp..207ftlbs torque..She scares old people...Makes children cry....Causes police horses to bolt..And Strikes fear in god worshipping druids...What a gal....

Im not surprised though that Wedges have started to increase in value .... The Tasmin challenge saw a lot of good wedges bastardised for track use, being modified with rough fibreglass or ali plate & perspex
Oi, no ally plate and rough grp in mine :-)Most were non runners before conversion.
About 24 were converted and sadly about 5 were destroyed i. Accidents and 6 have been broken for parts.
Mine is currently being restored for racing all be it with a 24v engine
