Trailing arm hub pivot bolt
Discussion
Hi Alan, this is a lower rear wishbone pivot from a Taimar/M series
1/2" unf thread and 12 and half inches long. if that's a copy of Sprint yours is photo'd against i think it will be too long?
that said the threaded portions look longer, it is about 8 and half inches between threads, could it be cut down?
available from Adrian@ if it does look any use (or just buy a length of bar and cut your own threads)?

Hi Mike, the total length is 9.5" with 1/2" of thread needed on either end.
I did wonder about cutting a thread on some steel rod but thought better as I'm told it has to be very high tensile.
Is the one pictured spare? Might get me out of a spot.
Mark, tried RT as first port of call but he's out of stock. Cheers.

Hi Alan.I think i have a couple that i bought a while back from RT....
I know i have one in the boot...So if you are stuck then you can use it and just replace it later on when he gets some more in stock....
Unless i can find anyone else with any....
Cheers
Ziga

Can't see why? I've always thought of HT as being for things under extreme tension, head bolts etc. A pivot bolt like that takes knocks and bangs from all directions as the suspension deflects, probably more susceptible to shearing forces? Is high tensile more brittle than mild steel, would it possible snap under a very high impact (big pothole) whereas mild steel would just flex?
I don't know.

It certainly is but would have to describe its condition as "well used" !!!I can run a die down the threads and clean them up a bit.
Thanks for all comments.
Mike or Mark if you're at Silverstone this weekend we could meet.
Just had a look at the one now fitted to the car and gave the exposed end a centre punch to get an idea of the grade, while I'm not qualified to guess the grade I can tell it's not a very high grade as the same centre pop on a 12.9 bolt left half the size indent. Maybe the one I have is ste.
