Hi Peeps..Just dropped delilah off for her second part of surgery..Im having the EPS pump fitted..The race alternator fitted to the N/S of the engine..The accumulator fitted...Unleaded and lowered compression heads fitted..Payen gaskets fitted..An air induction kit with a proper K&N filter instead of the mesh crape one that i have at the moment..The Amethyst ignition system and lastly the supercharger..All that's left now is the interior..Hood...Wheels refurbed and a full stainless exhaust system..Cant wait...Cheers..Ziga

Cheers guy's..Hopefully there will be no surprises..I had a rebuilt low mileage V6 cologne fitted a little while ago so that should be ok..The main thing with a supercharger is making sure all the heads fit flat and good quality gaskets are used..And of course a strong healthy engine to start with is a must..I have instructed the garage to take pics of every little thing..They know me by now anyway so they probably wont get much done due to all the picture taking..hehe
Ralph..You do make me laugh mate..Better watch the missus dont catch you saying that or you might end up with a fox supper...eek...Cheers...Ziga

Mark,

What are you doing for fuel enrichment? And out of interest what CR are you aiming for?

Chris.
Hi Chris..The blower is set up to run low boost which i think is somewhere between 4-6psi, This set up was to run on a standard V6 cologne with no mods to fuel/Air and compression...I have had the heads worked to lower the compression to avoid any detonation but im not to sure what the CR is until i chat to him..I have used an ignition system called AMETHYST which utilises the existing dizzy..It also has a MAP sensor which im connecting to the plenum servo manifold instead of a check valve or drilliing the inlet manifold..It contains maps for various set ups for V6 engines and is also programmable..I have an adjustable WUR even though the all are in a sense when mine was refurbed it was done with the blower in mind..Im hopimg it will all go smoothly...Cheers...Ziga

Hi Peeps..Well i have been at the garage helping out with things for the last couple of days..The unleaded/Lowered compression heads are fitted..The stainless manifolds are on..The race alternator needed a bracket fabricated to fit it on the N/S..The belt tensioner for the blower that was supplied was the wrong one..we tried a pinto one on there and it fitted perfectly so the wheel had to be press out and the one i had pressed in as the pinto one was too small..The pipework for the blower is being routed round the front instead of behind the plenum..The EPS pump has been fitted in front of the rad on the plate that is below the rad..The washer bottle is fitted that i had cut down as it was too big..The ignition system is being fitted and the electrics are being done tomorrow..The only downside is that a couple of silicone reducers are having to be made and they wont be ready until wednesday..So looks like im stuck with the pishpot for a little longer...Cheers...Ziga

Cheers chaps...I will have a lot of cleaning and polishing to do as he is a messy bugger..I sprayed up the rubber cap that sits on the sensor plate with some red flexible plastic paint and there was no need for him to touch it but when i showed him it..Guess what..He touched it..banghead...hehe..A small section of the bodywork needs taking out under the blower as it's resting on it and making the engine sit slightly pished!..It has to be done as i wont be able to stand the noise or see out of any mirrors due to the vibration..I have decided to order a stainless exhaust system from ACT so Delilah wont be as noisy..Plus i want to hear that sucker whinning....The only concern is the EPS pump..When it was turned by hand due to the reservoir needing rotation it sounded like it was grinding a bit but im hoping this was down to having no fluid in it..I think it all was meant to be though as so far everything has gone weirdly smooth..For instance when the alternator was fitted via a fabricated bracket to the N/S the belt he was going to use was too long and would of rubbed on the thermostat housing..I had one in the boot which was way too short for the original set up and it sat in the boot for about six months, I nearly chucked it..It fits perfectly..Then the old PAS pump belt tensioner and the alternator adjusting arm that came with the S/C kit which initially wasnt needed was used to secure the newly positioned alternator..Again fitted perfectly..Some weid going's on also happened..Tools literally disappeared that we were using and ended up over on his workbench..And i saw him put them down in front of us..Then when he went upstairs to look for a belt tensioner we heard a massive crash as he got to the top of the stairs..His brother came in and said WTF was that?..A stater motor just fell off the shelf..I guess it's the spirit of TVR...I cant wait but im gonna have to...rotate..Cheers...Ziga

What about cooling Mark, that fan looks a bit diddy like my old one. Do you think you may have to big it up with perhaps an oil cooler as well.
Hi Mate..I was contemplating a new fan even though the one i have is working ok..Im not going to be driving the car hard or tracking it so i shouldnt need an oil cooler..As said when the kit was designed it bolted straight to a standard V6 cologne without any mods to cooling..Oil or fuel..However i will make sure that these are all optimum and upgrade if needed..Cheers..Ziga

That's strange - silicone bits on Delila - they would be enlargers, not reducers ;^)
I like em large but i think i might of been a bit ambitious..biggrin

Hi peeps..well i was hoping to be posting a video of the first S/C start but stylink never turned up with the silicone pipe needed..Still we got some more bits done..The EPS pump works fine..The alternator is all wired in and the ignition system is ready and waiting..Apparently there is a "Get you going map" in the unit but i will get it booked in on the sanspeed RR just to make sure everything is doing what it is supposed to be..Fingers crossed for tomorrow...Cheers...Ziga

Did some cleaning of the engine today but the graphite paint i used on the blower has been contaminated with a seepage of oil from the front housing of the blower it seems..This did happen when i first sprayed it, I made sure the bolts were tight and i did use etching primer but had to keep cleaning it off and spraying over it again!..I kind of wish i had stuck to my guns more..The plan was to polish it and detail the grooves in Red HT paint..banghead..I just hope there is no leakage from the blower..That would be a right pain..Will have to see what happens when we start it..Its a shame the silicone joiners didnt turn up as i have a feeling that this re-routing of the pipework will foul the bonnet a little, Its also going to be extremely tight to change plugs, Belts and hoses!..
Just means there will be more swearing when it comes to doing any of the aforementioned...Removed the fuel cooler as it was not connected anyway..I think this was done as the original air-box had only a standard capri air-box which was limited to hot air from the rad and no cold air feed..I modified the air-box and put a K&N on instead which is positioned in the nosecone..Im hoping the alternator is efficient...Its an 80amp..The EPS pump has a heavy wire feed with a 50amp fuse and a 75amp relay..It has been wired to the position 1 of the ignition..Cheers for looking...Ziga

So where have you hidden the PAS pump matey?
Hi Chris..The pump is tucked down in front of the rad and mounted on the plate that is welded to the chassis that sits under the rad..I might have to feed some cool air in from outside and direct it towards the lower half of the rad..I have also the bonnet scoop to fit and the extractors for stationary heat build up...Cheers..Ziga

they are aware that the plenum top can be fitted on t'other way round to go straight from the charger and in to the throttle body?
Hi mate..Yes..That was the original way of doing it with the original pipework and the rocker covers would be swapped over as well..I suppose now that its being done with silicone and steel pipe that could be an option now..scratchchin...Mmmm...Hopefully we wont need to..Cheers..Ziga

Hi peeps..Well its good and bad news..The bad news is that the silicone hoses are being sucked shut..I should of known better really!..The heater cold air intake box for the interior fan had to be removed!..The amethyst ignition system is a waste of money!..The battery light on the alternator is not working!..The routing of pipework would fail the bonnet!..I came home alone!..The good news is that i stuck to my guns and routed the pipes the way i intended originally..The Alternator charges the battery and has a year warranty..(Should do for £238)!..I used the distributor that came with the S/C kit which is a bosch but with a boost vacuum diaphragm on it..Delilah started after a bit of a charge to the battery..You can hear me panic in the first vid..hehe..We have ordered some stainless steel pipes for mon-Tue..So should have her back tuesday the latest..Bit of a disappoinment but its better to get it right than to rush it..Need to move the coil so that the washer bottle can be refitted..Cheers...Ziga

Looks awesome Zig clap

But why won't the Amethyst work mate, surely it's just a case of mapping it?

And it's got boost reference right?

Confused confused
Hi Dave..Unfortunately the amethyst doesnt recognise the distributor or TDC..They swapped it over for one with points and tested it and it was ok but im not going backwards to move forward..I think it will be used a bit later as its recommended to use their ignitor with it..Bit naughty really as they advertise it as a straight forward fit which is compatible with 4-6-8 cylinders..When i phoned them they admitted they had no maps for the V6 colognes..All is not lost though..Its a temporary set back which hasnt stopped the progress...Cheers...Ziga

Sorry if you feel I misled you over the Amethyst
Yeah you misleading misleader..hehe..No of course not mate..In fact i will still use it but like you say i will run the car for a while as is..I will still get it to a decent rolling road as i would like to know that everything is working as it should be..The amethyst has a start up map in there and to be fair you do need to put it on a RR for someone to map it and i would like to have a bit more control over everything..
Fitting a trigger wheel might not be that easy as the crank pulley is massive and even the timing plate had to be re-shaped to avoid hitting it..The built in MAP sensor on the unit has a big plus and it would be good to utilise it..Still another day another job!..I will post up another vid of me driving it..If i can find a decent tripod for my camera!..Cheers..Ziga
