Changed the gear box oil on 350i put ATF in.Was fine then 100miles or so on went to go from 5th to 3rd couldn't get it out of 5th at first, made a balls of the corner I wanted 3rd for, then got it out of 5th. All gears are now selectable but not cleanly, have to really coax them in and still get embarassing noises. cluch seems ok from stationary, but have bled the black fluid out, thought it might be a bit of air.
The car has been an oily mess underneath since I got it both engine and gearbox. Was to be a winter project to pull the engine out and do all the seals. I am thinking sticking clutch due to all the mis-placed oil and I don,t have time to pull the engine out just now and its summer!
Any ideas for a quicker fix guys or do you think its even worse and Ive shagged the gear box???

Thanks for all the help. I am back home now so I can start trying to sort Trevor out.
Oil level is where it should be 2-3mm below the level plug.
I forgot to mention that the oil change was prompted because I was getting snicks when engaging 5th and the oil was 750ml short of where it should have been when I filled it back up again!
Checked the vertical play in the gear lever its about 1-2cms, oh joy it could be easy to fix. Please where do I get the bushes from and part nos?
I am off to bleed the clutch again, hope I am wrong but the last time I had this sort of problem (not on a TVR)there was a couple of tynes broken where the thrust bearing hits the clutch diaphragm, can,t get it out of my head, please, please guyes prove me wrong.
Bushes first then any more straws to clutch at please, no pun intended!!!

Done mine and only got a slight improvement but at least its drivable now. got to change the oil again then its back to the clutch if the oil change doesn't cure it. i had to use the original plain rubber washers on the front /top/most inaccessible whatever you want to call them bushes as the poly bushes were too thin on thier own, took a while to twig that the originals were two bushes stuck together a plain rubber washer and a stepped bush like the rimmer bros replacements.
have to agree that the language wasn't to pleasant, cries of where's the little yellow bastard gone now, which soddin ledge has it landed on this time.
