New Wedge front lights - more pics

Would have posted these sooner but my PC picked up that bloody Win 2000 worm that fiddles with your cut/paste etc (you get an error message saying that 'svchost.exe' has some problem or other...)
Well, to the idiot who thought that one up: screw you. There's a patch for it. Get a life.









This was at about 8 in the evening; the indicators are OK but not desperately bright in full-on sunshine (but then, are any others?)

They were from my garage. GRP mat, resin, bulb holders, plastic diffuser from a light fitting. Most expensive bits were the orange indicator bulbs (nearly a fiver for two!! ). Of course I'd paid for the GRP and resin at some point in the past: probably less than 20 quid then, but still 60 quid cheaper (and 6 weeks sooner!) than Renault wanted for their units.
The lenses are held in by stainless steel hex socket screws, into glassed-in thread inserts. There's an internal divider separating the two lamps, and the whole interior is sprayed with chrome paint to add a bit of reflectivity (even the Renault units don't have actual reflectors). The lenses are such a close fit that just a trace of clear silicone was used to seal out the rain.
Bulbholders and correct 3-pin connectors from Vehicle Wiring Products as usual. No modifications to bumper necessary so can be returned to standard if pedantry insists...

I laid the basic housing up in situ. Moulds would take a bit of thinking about because I found that the n/s recess wasn't quite the same shape as the o/s (probably due to some accident repair in the past) - so I couldn't use the o/s lens as a template for the n/s, for instance. Also the n/s had an opening that was smaller than the internal dimension, meaning that once the GRP had gone off, I couldn't extract the new lamp housing! Luckily I used to be a gynaecologist, and am used to getting big things through small holes. In fact I used to be able to wallpaper my hallway through the letterbox... but I digress
Any fool could make some, it wasn't difficult.
