Guys - I was thinks of a big meeting in the summer ...
real good top down weather .. I don't fancy driving 200 miles in crap weather. How about July (Le Mans finished..).

I was thinking of something like : We book serveral rooms in a reasonably priced hotel or take over a few guest houses in a nice town in the Midlands somewhere.

How about this format ..

Sat 12:00 ~ 13:00ish - people arrive from all over country.
13:00 ~ 15:00 - talk cars etc ..
15:00 ~ 17:00 - Country drive out (Local wedgie to arrange route)
17:00 on - discover local bar & restaurant

Sun, Breakfast followed by :
Local Event - Gaydon , heritage etc.. they are normally interested in groups.

How about that ..

Father Ted .. that date clashes with piston Fest .. are you free another weekend ..

It would be a shame to have it the same weekend as another big event !

OK

Cards on table on replies - what weekends can't you make.

If you can take leave, swap shifts etc .. great.

Personnally - I can make any weekend in July.

Let's avoid the PistonFest (3rd & 4th July) - do they have free Guinness !

Are you happy with the kind of format - I don't want to exclude anyone because it's too expensive.

Don't want to book £100 / night hotel !

If we aim for B&B for £50~£60 for a Saturday night .. if others want to drive and not stay (OK) but they will miss out on () but that's OK.

Tas - shall we take it one step at a time ..

Can you make July ..

I think we should do our own thing and not really join forces with the Griffs ... as the numbers will get huge and no decisions will ever get made.

Lets see who can make it and if they like the kind of agenda then suggest ideas for venue and the exact agenda..

We could get all official and organise public liability insurance .. but who gives a F*** we are
not a car club just a bunch of mates driving here and there.. no need to involve TVR CC .. too many hoops and rules to achieve nothing.

Also - we need a name .. how about :

BIG BAD WEDGE Fest !

Sorry for my absence this weekend - been busy taking the SEAC to AUSTEC on Saturday and out will all the WEdges on Sunday.

10 cars in Feb .. I can only say I'm impressed.

We did a similar format to what I'm suggesting for a national meeting .. we met in a large open air car park .. chatted for about 1/2 hr then went for a drive of about 3/4 hr thru 2 nice towns (Henley and Marlow)

- followed by another chat in a pub car park .. then a few coffees in the pub .. well some of us drunk beer.

I think everyone had a great time .. certainly great to meet people in person.

We did discuss a national meeting and had a few thoughts..(these are not necessarilly mine just passing them on..) :

1) Everyone liked the basic idea

2) Not everyone liked the Museum idea not unless it was the 'Modern Lingerie museum' - Steve you crack me up...! People thought they could visit museums in their own time - they want to talk & drive wedges.

Places to stop / regroup / chat on a drive would be great.

3)Us shandy drinking southerners don't want to venture up North until it gets warmer.. (we've got some funny geazers down were ) - 200 miles top down in April might be wet / cold.

4) Tas - your idea for April - why not have a dry run of a few local routes ..

I'm going to put more stuff on another post (to long and they get boring).

Spot on Rev - let's leave the museums to the anoraks & the kids! Having said that, following your earlier comment, how about the Triumph Museum?

I've just seen a picture of a real nice one on the back of a bus in Central London. It was purple, with an underwired chassis and came with matching panties

You crack me up ...

Triumph .. didn't they make the TR7 too

A thought - we definately need a 'group' tee shirt made for this .. something funny on the back and our name & PH name on the front.. mainly because I have the memory of a gold fish.

Any idea's for something funny - or just "I drive a BIG BAD WEDGE" - "BBWF - 2004".

ANy other idea's ?

Just caught up with this thread. Hope to make it, but just one thought, could it have not been possible to combine the BBW meet with Pistonfest ? May be a silly idea, but if they are both in the same area and only 2 weeks apart. It would save a lot of travelling for some of us (me included).

Ian - that was indeed a thought we we started planning it .. or join in with TVR CC - Mania... but both of these events are really doing something else.

This is very focused .. just Wedges .. doing our own thing .. loudly !

Well - Ralph may be right : next year will be the true 25th Anniversary but we can raise a glass or two to the 25th Anniversary of the show car

Tas - yes it would be great to have > 100 Wedges
but I think we will fall short of that. Perhaps next year we could all go to Mania which should be a good
gathering for 100+ wedges.

Sadly - we won't be able to have the TVR CC help promote this years event as we would have to allow
all TVR's models (part of their policy) ...

So unless everyone disagrees - I think it would be nice to just keep this event for Wedges.

Personally - I'm happy with the price .. but like you say - it's worth shopping around the other hotels.

The '31' figure - is that attendee's or people who want to stay .. not that it should matter really - I guess locally can enjoy the facilities and then cab it home

When we do get a confirmed 'Hotel' - then I think we need a booking reference - so we can all book it individually .. perhaps Mrs H can email the '31' so we have a change to book ourselves in before we invite others..

I liked Fire foxes idea of emailing Wedge owners (via owners cars!) - although it does also list 'past owners' cars .. Mungo - 350i

Personally - can't wait for the change to meet everyone and go for a drive with 30+ Wedges.. awesome !
