Much to my amazement on my travels I've stumbled across a 420 SEAC sitting in a paddock, looks like it hasn't moved for years and it would be a pretty major restoration project. No one was about so I couldn't find out any info on it but I intend to go back with a camera shortly and investigate more.
It's metalic blue, Reg 918 BK and has the later 400SE style dash. There's weeds growing through the spoked wheels, the tyres are flat, the hood's ripped and the interior's all mouldy. Two tyres are sitting on the rear spoiler and there's scratches, cracks and other damage on the body. It looks complete though.
Anyone recognise the reg number? In the bible there's statements that there's a few pretenders out there that aren't real SEACs; is there anything I should look for to confirm it's pedigree?

Because I'm trying to figure out what it's worth... is it an original factory car in need of rescue or a shagged ex-racer with no pedigree that'll cost a packet to put right? The latter best explains it being stuck in a field. The story doesn't stack up and I'm trying to get to the bottom of it.
Clearly I have!!
There's so many different scenarios that it blows my mind. Fortunately for me personally, I get my kicks out of fixing things... this car needs one hell of a lot of fixing so it suits me perfectly. When you start looking at the car as a collection of systems and then start to add the numbers it gets scary; and with so many unknowns about it's real condition it's not possible to estimate either the time it will take or the money it'll cost.
I'm up for it assuming I can persuade the owner to sell. I'm working on it...
...and I'm still gobsmacked he hasn't found this website!!!

Aaaarg!!! I've now offered the guy what he said he wanted and he still wants to think about it!! This is so frustrating. I've seen the documents now, it is D488 PHG, last MOTed in 2006... but at that time only for a number plate transfer so not a 'real' MOT apparently. Assuming he does let me have it I'll post loads of photos and tell the story, it feels like an invasion of privacy otherwise. The guy said he'd call me tomorrow.
It's not visible on google earth, I've checked!

Next question... two wedges in the family? Sounds greedy to me but I'll need some automotive excitement to get me through the inevitable low points!

The beast is showing some signs of difficulty here; the door latch is corroded and won't operate and the damage to the hood is obvious. It has plant life on the parcel shelf...
