I had to squeeze this one in in time for it's trip to LeMans but havent got around to posting pics up until now. This lovely little toy is only six months old and to be fair is pretty clean. It was treated to Auto Glym Life Shine (a similar product to Superguard etc) when it was purchased, but Simon wasn't convinced it was particularly good as the water wasn't beading off the car much.
Whilst I could feel there was some form of protective layers on the paint, I wasn't happy with the finish or the beading (although that's not to say it wasn't protecting the paint). For a product that costs in the region of £200 - £250, i'd want a better finish for sure.
Anyway, on to the detail....
The car was rinsed and washed with Megs NXT shampoo using the two bucket method. The car was then clayed with Sonus Green Clay and a diluted Wolfgang Clay Lubricant. This lifted lots of tar spots and tree sap in the paint.
Although there were swirls in the paint, they weren't really a big concern, and with it being white they don't really show either. I decided to use Menz Final Finish P085RD on a Sonus SFX1 restore pad, which lifted some of the lighter marks. The more marked panels (bonnet & Fr bumper) were treated to Menz P085RD 3.02. This was followed up with 2 coats of Chemical Guys Jestseal109, which was followed up with Victoria Collectors Wax.
The pics....

While I was waiting for the Jetseal to bond with the paint, I decided to give the engine bay a quick detail. Not something I normally do, but the bay is pretty compact on the Porsche, so didn't take too long.

After:
Whilst detailing I also had to entertain 2 lovely boarder collies who kept wanting play ball, and was then mobbed by 10 10 week old hound pups. While I quickly tried to move my cup of tea away from 2 of them, one decided to help himself to one of my mixing pots and off he went.
And the afters.....

To say I was excited about this is an understatement. I love the Monaro and to get the oportunity to detail a black one is awesome. Huw had already been busy washing the car by the time I arrived (and manouvered my way up his driveway!!). I gave it another quick wash down with Megs NXT shampoo using a mirofibre noodle sponge. The car was then clayed with with Sonus Ultra Fine Green Clay, but this wasn't really needed as the paint was pretty clean. The car was then rinsed again and dried with a Sonus Der Wunder microfiber drying towel.
Out with the PC using a Sonus SFX 1 pad and Menz 85RD3.02 i worked my way around the car. I knew it wasn't small, but it's certainly bigger than it looks! This was then followed up with Chemical Guys Jetseal 109 and Victoria Collectors Wax.

After a hard days work on the Monaro, it would have been rude not to have rewarded myself with chicken and chips from Cardiffs best chippy!
Hmmm, I'm not so sure. I've found the quality of chips in Top Gun has gone down of late. Victoria, round the corner do great chips without the huge queue. What this has to do with detailing I don't know!By the way Huw, are you from Carmarthenshire? I'm sure I saw your car near Carmarthen when I was back there last.
