Top post and excellent work Huw
I thought I was anal with the time and attention to detail with my cars, but hat off to you Huw - the difference between the before and after shots is amazing.

Amazing work, you certainly are very talented. It's inspirational to see our cars turned into gleaming works of art!

However, surely this is an advertisement - did you pay for this thread? I have just had a reply 'binned' for trying to pass on details of a person I wanted to recommend, and yet this thread is allowed? Come on administrators one rule for all please!

Thank you for the comments. I'd like to think of it as more of a "help and advice"/"show us yours" thread to be honest. I've not advertised any business details in the thread save for an email address that has allowed people to contact me for help and advice on how to restore or keep their car in tip top condition - I will gladly remove the address if a moderator feels it's in breach of the rules.

Jazzy, I know you've had it explained to you as to how this works; but for the benefit of others:

Huw has been active, and happily sharing his tips with everyone, hence the reason why I left the thread going.

I think that people forget how the term "Word of Mouth" works.

You give good service and advice, and then someone recommends you by offering your number and commendation to someone else and so on.

Hence there any many many people here on PH who sail close to the wind, however as they are active and friendly we almost encourage it - we all want to learn. However many people have developed thriving business through Word of Mouth, and long may it continue.

Things have been a touch quiet recently, having been on holiday etc, but we got things going again this weekend with a couple of details.

First up is the Merc. To say I was a little illprepared for this one is an understatement. Afer a slot becoming free last minute, I booked the CLK in on Friday, for a detail on Saturday. I knew where I was going, and who's it was, but it dawned on me on my way, that I didnt actually know what colour it was. laugh

On arrival I was greeted with a dark blue CLK that was in some need of a good detail.

Once washed down and clayed, the extent of the work needed became apparent. The car was covered in lots of small scratches and the paint was very dull and matt. What you get from auto car washes!!! There were also a number of larger scratches that were of concern.

Products used:

Sonus Green Clay
Menzerna 085RD
Poorboys Polish
Poorboys Ex-P Sealant
Victoria Collectors Wax
Blackfire Tyre Gel

The Car on arrival:

A scratch on the front wing probably caused by a football:

More scratches further down the front wing:

And after:

This is a half half on the rear quater:

This is the same half half but from a different angle showing the difference in reflection:

:

This is a "half half" on the roof (the difference isn't exact as I didn't mask it off first):

Unfortunately it rained a couple of times during the day - ironically both times as an Ice Cream van drove past playing The Sun has got his Hat On!! Nevertheless this was a prime beadage opportunity!

This is how the water "beaded" off the panel originally:

Beadage!!!

And finally... the after shots.

Another day, another car. This time I was a little more prepared, having been to see Phil, the owner of this GT2 some weeks ago. I don't remember it being as bad as this though....

This GT2 isn't just a weekend road toy, its a proper track toy too that gets used regularly. Infact it's off to Le Mans for the weekend in a few feeks.

Being silver and the paint being relatively tidy, paint correction wasn't so much an issue with this, although there were some small swirls and scratches here and there that needed addressing.

The Process:

Wash with Megs NXT
Clay using Sonus Green Clay
Menz 085D
Poorboys Ex-P Sealant x 2 coats
Vicotria Collectors x 2 coats
Wheels - Wonderwheels and Blackfire Tyre Gel

Before:

And the afters...

More excellent work Huw! biggrin

Despite the lighter colour, the work on the Porsche really makes it stand out even more! Both stunning cars!

I think some of you will like this little peach. I did it a couple of weeks ago and it should now been down in Le Mans for the weekend.

Since booking the car in for a detail, the owner had taken it for a service. Following the service the "apprentice" washed the car with a brush which left some somewhat undesirable results. The nose of the car was particularly bad where he's scrubbed harder to remove the flies on it.

I forgot to take pics when the car arrived as we started a little late, so we're picking up following the wash down. The car was washed and rinsed with Megs NXT Car Wash shampoo. The wheels were treated with WonderWheels. Following the wash down the car was clayed with Sonus Green Clay using a diluted Wolfgang Clay Lubricant.

Here you can see the scratches on the nose:

There are the scratches on the roof:

These are the scratches on the passenger rear quarter:

Most panels took 2 - 3 passes with Menz 085RD 3.02 on a Sonus SFX 1 pad.

This is a 50:50 on the nose:

And a 50:50 on the rear quarter:

Following up on the Menz was 2 coats of Chemical guys Jetseal109. It's the first time I've tried this and have to say it's pretty good. I wasn't convinced it was much better than my favourite to start with, Poorboys EX-P, but the final finish of the car does seem to be a little better. The Jetseal was then followed up with some Victoria Collectors wax.

A sunlight shot on the front passenger quarter:

And the finished results:
