Hi all,
I live locally to Tesco Stowmarket and only popped out for some shopping - and stumbled across you guys! Gutted I couldn't join you for the full drive out, though I did really enjoy a bit about 20 mins of fun with a 911 Turbo (which was following the green Lamborghini) before I had to return home to my chores! :-)
Hope you all had a great day: it looked awesome!

Well done for de-lurking and thanks for the other picture contributions - calendar of events is at the top of this forum so feel free to not miss out on other shows or runs
I had great fun despite getting lost twice - just glad nobody followed me when I did a U-turn after thinking I'd missed a turn, only to spot another 30 cars coming the way I had been and should have kept going!
Was very nice to catch up with a few familiar faces and to meet some new friendly petrol heads.

Welcome aboard mate. I was the chap parked in front of you that you spoke to. Glad you came put for a bit of a drive and I hope all goes well next week (or when it's ready) I live locally to Tesco Stowmarket and only popped out for some shopping - and stumbled across you guys! Were you in the M5? God that thing sounded amazing going under the overpass. I had a minor crisis! (was in silver M3 in front)
Guilty as charged. We had a nice little drive at times, although I had to be relatively sensible as I had the family with me. The boy was encouraging me but the wives knuckles were going white. lolKhaki Suit said:

Ah, yes, that was you - thank you for you kind wishes!I did get a sound-bite of your M5 as you were exiting the car park (plus a few other general videos of the turnout) which I shall hyperlink a bit later along with more photos.
:-)
Fantastic day.
Great weather, top down all day, and great fun on the drive, both from Milton and from Stowmarket. We even managed some sort of unscheduled short cut that saw us go from the back of the group to about fourth.
Great mix of machinery and people. Enjoyed it all. Cheers to all who made it happen.

Was my first run and really enjoyed it, didn't stay with the front group as the old man in me doesn't like me doing any more than the NSL!
Had plenty of fun in the twisties with the M135i and TT, although I think I want an LSD fitted now as the traction control light was going crazy..

Good idea. Will see how the land lies next weekend. Assume it is at the big pub that used to be the Beefeater when I lived over that way.
The Flying Horse - between the main roundabout & the post office.Current thread here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
So more mutterings – there are other channels available if you don’t like - please switch over…..
So back to navigation – now the Lotus doesn’t have many driving aids – it’s got ABS (works when it feels like it) and no sat-nav - when my navigator Jeff asked for a magnifying glass all I could offer was a map reading light (which are useful at night but apparently not so good in daylight) yep we were in the brown stuff - nappy brown..... (hmm much like a MX5)
So why bring a navigator – well Mrs BC says I can’t find a spot so clearly my navigation needs help so as she says the Lotus makes her “seasick” I was forced to find an alternative option for this run.
I had a cunning plan – leave first and hopefully after a few wrong turns and a bit of luck, a following wind and the sun on our faces my group wouldn’t be last………
Following picture taken fairly early in the run – I know it looks like I’ve already lost half the group but shortly after I was happy to see a yellow porka bringing up the rear of the second half of the group.
I’d already done better than last time I took the lead – half the group left Stowmarket and hit the A14……
My tactics for this year was to at least get the group to the A1120 – mission accomplished and from this point nothing could go wrong…..
Hoofing up the first part of the A1120 I was amazed to have an Astra glued to my bumper – perhaps he’d sneakily attached a tow rope in the car park – nope it didn’t weigh 2 tonne and it had nearly as many horses as my Lotus – well it was very clear I wasn’t going to lose one of the group that was certain – seemed that a few of the others at the front of the pack weren’t slow either.
So how did I do……
Six cars – yes six whole cars rolled in behind me at the car park – this is a new record and I am very grateful for those PH’rs that stuck with me through highway, by-way and well farm track if I’m honest…..
We however had a welcoming group at the car park….. yes you’ve guessed it Gewy, Mrs Gewy and of course Alice and maybe some others were all already parked up when we arrived – claims vary from we’ve been here 5 mins to 30 mins depending on who was asked……
Leading a group (well half a group – okay one third of a group if I’m honest) it precluded a chip shop fly by and passenger dump……. (this may need explaination)
On previous runs Gewy and I have done a sneaky passenger drop in the chip queue before parking a 20 min stroll and we’ve joined them – this works well – seriously peeves other people in the queue (hey ho) but does reduce the time we have to queue (sometimes we’ve even stopped the cars so the passengers can get out gracefully)
Today was a little different – my passenger might be registered blind and the other passenger was 13 (going on 15) clearly the two off them couldn't just be dumped out without some sort of parental guidance - Alice I wasn't worried about but Jeff needs constant parental guidance
So we all parked up and walked - The youngest PH’r in our group "Miss GEWY" Alice was dead keen on Fish and chips as opposed to pub grub even though it was explained that it would probably be possible to get “Fish and chips” in a pub however living in a democracy we put it to a vote amongst the group of 7
Voting results
Six votes for “don’t really mind either way” no-one wanted to argue with Alice (13 going on 17)
One emphatic vote for proper chip shop fish and chips – guess who?
Note - we had to lower the voting age to 13 before the voting took place – strange that but it was all done in a democratic way.
So anyway a clear majority and the motion was carried – chip shop fish and chips it was
So we finished the walk and arrived at the chish and fips shop - what followed was a lesson in how fickle teenagers are – one look at the queue and a 13 year old (did I mention going on 19) revolution took place – no voting either!!!
Pub next door to the chippy was doing other food it was doing Pizza………….. And so the revolution ended almost as fast as it started and we skipped the long queue for a much shorter one.
Food arrived fairly quickly
GEWY saying grace” doooooogggg”
Fish orientated Pizza (Alice – who damn near cleaned the plate)
And Pizza as we normally know it (for the rest of us)
Went down well and a very short wait
Lunch was interesting full of a mix of lively conversation about cars and how effective full length rubber gloves were when you stick your hand up a cows backside……. Sureal? - nope just good conversation covering all bases and then a little bit more!
Quote of the day came from Alice - when questioned as to why she had decided to want to be a vet Alice replied because “Thomas (her elder brother) told me I wouldn’t be a princess”.
A walk back to the car park – yeah slowly – with a stop off for ice cream for nearly all (sorbet for my new favourite young PH’r who has hollow legs legs like most teenagers) and a coffee for me (first and last of the day)
Drive home was great – apart from the odd lycra clad amstrong wannabe and a “Reliable Brand” of car breaking down (again) with clutch failure (again) which turned out to be a quick roadside fix. (we removed engine and gearbox, split the box, fixed the clutch and then threw it all back together again and away it went….. (actual events may differ from the above)
Oh and I haven’t mentioned that the LC won an award….. Now this is a huge honour and If I’d known I could have snapped up another award by not washing it before I left that morning I’d have got up later…
(Also if the awards had been done at Aldeburgh I’d have been in a chance with 6 other cars – that by-way had some serious drainage/water retention issues as well as hadn’t seen a road sweeper for maybe a decade or maybe two)
Oh bugger – I’ve digressed again sorry – anyway the award proudly placed on the dash with the PG Tips prize (I was very surprised it wasn't custard as until last year most PH'rs were convinced that the Lotus was as imaginary as my partner Lisa - damn sidetracked again)
Back to the award - unfortunately it didn’t sit easy with my OCD
I Haz sharpie
Now my OCD still didn’t sit well with this either – I still haz sharpie!
Still not completely OK with this – Luckily I still had a sharpie!!
There much better
Of course I now can add “best in show” to the PH classifieds advert for the car later this year along with a whole load of other nearly truthful claims……. Never tracked – yeah that might be a tricky one anyone know how to get multiple top gear you tube videos loaded by other people removed???
In hindsight perhaps I shouldn’t have written this post?
[Edited to add - fecking photobucket skills need work too]
