Rather than have drifting on Sunday, why not Saturday with a few drift only sessions as less 'track' cars attending?
Exactly what I have suggested to Marham - Offering to move the ABS attendance to Sat rather than the normal Sunday

A noise limit of 105 dB will be enforced (measured at 0.5m and 45 degree angle from exhaust exit at 2/3 of max rpm). Cars exceeding this limit will not be permitted on track. redcard
That's resonably generous, even if you have a RV8 with a custom exhaust. earscloud9

Hannah, Im not sure what yours revs to but mine is all over by ~5500 so 2/3 = 3663rpm. I'll see if I can bring a noise meter along to the next PHEA meet if you'd like yours measuring...

I think that's the problem, very few people actually know how loud 105db is. I certainly don't.

If there was a refund for those cars which failed the test on the day, then that might encourage them to at least turn up?

Wasting time is one thing, wasting time and money is something else!

I hear its also now a no smoking event, not even in your car. So the thoughtless smokers at the last meet have now spoilt it for the responsible ones who respected what was asked by the organisers. Is a smoking hut going to be made available or do we have to go off site?

Settle down chaps....back of the bike sheds will doubtless be available if required for the tabbers, but it shouldn't be needed as long as people don't litter the area....

The noise issue is, as I indicated, that the Station Commander had to ask the organisers to implement some form of noise control, following a letter of complaint from the village about noise on weekends, and words in his shell-like from some of the people living in the married quarters; as also indicated, 105dB really is not restrictive, for all but the odd unsilenced one or two.

On the issue of the additional fee for extra drivers and passengers, there is a twofold reason. Firstly, the money still all goes to the charity pot and the overall sum is still deemed to be very reasonable (which I believe it is in value for money terms). Secondly, it has been introduced to control many who just pitch up - this is primarily about the station's personnel who can just pitch up because they are based there. The last few track days have got difficult to control in that respect and the organisers also wanted to achieve benefit from the extra work that the helpers do in briefing and signing people up for rides all through the day. All the volunteer helpers get briefed, wrist-stamped and sign an indemnity form before the start - they get that for free and, with many of us offering them rides, that acts as a "thank you" to them for giving up their weekend to prepare/run/manage the event and clear up afterwards.

There is no move to make the event become bound by ever increasing regulation - the atmosphere of enjoyment and sensible, appropriate self-regulation remains to the fore.

Hmmm well, as I used to do 2 trackdays a month when the Cobra was running last year, I do know how loud 105db is and the Cobra is above that. I usually get into Snetterton and other airfield days with a flutter of eyelashes & toss of hair but it's working less n less. Must be getting old.

Me please! The red Nova GTE again, and also Austin 1300 if I can find a trailer for the weekend. Two people, both days (same details as last year Ian if you did need them in a hurry).

Just some reminders please

Please Note - I am in discussion with the organisers to firm up some of the suggested changes - esp the drift thing - Sat is by far the quieter day and the ABS forum that I also co-ordinate the entries for have the largest number of drift cars so having had lengthy discussions about the impact of this activity it was agreed on the forum that it may be better if the ABS moved their attendance from Sun (busy day) to Sat (quieter) This however has not been agreed yet
B'stard Child said:
I view of this I'd suggest that PH'rs don't email me with their details yet
^ Please...... you won't miss out I promise - I'll come back to everyone who has posted in this thread once all the fine details are sorted - you request is more likely to get lost if you send it early as my inbox is a bit busy and I need to set up some mail rules before entries start flooding in - I didn't do this last time and one passenger change was missed and there was nothing I could do about it as the deadline had passed - saying to an attendee that he couldn't bring his passenger because of a mistake I had made that I couldn't rectify was not pleasant...... I hadn't set up any mail rules but they would have stopped it happening - I will be setting them up this time for sure

I hope this makes sense as

1. I do have a full time job

2. I do this in my free time

3. Co-ordinating the attendance of 175 cars accross 3 forums and 2 days means that I need to get the system in place and get it right first time

And a fine sight a flutter of those eyelashes and a toss of the hair is from you m'dear...and you're nowhere near as old as us old geezers in the old jalopies. But then if you will run that brutish V8 stuff (although I'm surprised that you're that loud, even if a good V8 sounds like God's most wonderful noise) you might just need to do the flutter and toss thing at the measuring man and go easier with the right foot.......or go for something like this if it is a problem elsewhere http://www.actproducts.co.uk/trackdays.php. Failing all else, you're welcome to drive the old jalopies any time!

Please sign me up (and a passanger) for whichever day doesn't have drifting, or if there is going to be a special drifting session (which would seem to be the most ideal solution to me) the Sunday.

Cheers
