RAF Marham Charity Track Day Weekend 9/10th April 2011
Discussion
The big bend (Hockey Stick) at what will be the end of the main straight when running CW will be the most ‘interesting’ I think. Not so much of an issue in my car, but those who can pull some decent MPH on the straight are going to really have to watch themselves going into it – plenty of run-off they decide to abandon it on approach and just go straight on, a trip onto the grass otherwise! IIRC it’s a bit featureless at that end of the runway so picking a braking point might not be immediately obvious?
Running ACW there’s a more of a transition from fast to slow for the sharp MP2 bend, it seems to me from my limited experience anyway.
The other bends look like they’ll have a broadly similar approach speed running in either direction.
Whatever, I’m really looking forward to it and introducing a couple of new passengers to Marham.

very good point think they will need to put some count down markers in yards maybe? We will leave the lines and braking points to you to work out, as every car and every driver will have a different 'theory' on it!
Just take it steady on the first couple of laps and find you feet with regards to the above!
We will of course position our photographers in the best spots to catch those who chose to kindly mow our grass with their front splitters....
I have spent the afternoon uploading photos from some of our previous events to the website. The gallery is now live and can be viewed by clicking this little linky!.

Ahhh memories of good times
My work colleague Roger - trying hard to catch his 2.9 V6 cosworth engined Capri
Steve's ballistic missile - never been so impressed in the perfomance of an old school pocket rocket
Anything welcome - especially sleepers
The old heavy slow Monza 24V before it had a diet and triple sidedrafts
Paul C in his smelly diesel Audi A3 - mobile road block
Michael S in his V8 Luego (caterfield westerham thingy) - windscreen removed for the event

I should add that when me and George went through the thousands of images we have, we tried to chose ones where licence plates are not shown. 90% of people are not bothered by this, but the last thing we want to do is upset someone! If your car isn't featured in the gallery, this is most likey the reason why. So a top tip, in April, remove your plates before you go out on track and your pics might well appear in the gallery in the future! Besides, I know 'snapperlad' likes to use them to focus on, so it'll wind him up a little!!
Ian, I've seen pics you've posted of the mighty monza on here before with the plate on show, so I figured you'd be ok with it.
If anyone sees a pic they want removing, please email me at admin AT marhamtrackday.co.uk stating the reason why.
Please don't email asking for copies of pictures from the gallery, sadly I just don't have the time folks.

I have no issues with it at all - I'm not sure on all this cloning ballony - It's a reg plate - the Monza has a new one now - B5 GSE is going on retention when I sort the paperwork out - I think I have 2 mths left to do it.I have never blanked any reg plates out on pictures I've taken at events and shared on forums - no-one has ever asked me to remove one from my photobucket account either - as you say don't want to have your reg in the pictures - duct tape is your friend - if you aren't bothered then you aren't going to be upset if the pics are on the net the following day

I can totally understand Robs comments however a slower service can be provided by your PH forum co-ordinator who has pretty much all the marham pics squirelled away (well cept the one where the Monza lunched it's crank way back on one of the very early events - I just ask that you send me a message with car and info and then by way of thanks to Marham chuck a dollar or two in the charity collection bucket as you leave the driver briefing - that seems fair to me and if you don't hey ho - karma works in funny ways Oh and Monza is lighter by 178.5 kgs since the last event - sat down tonight and weighed up the last few bins of items removed....
was 1400 kgs and 250 bhp now 1221,5 kgs and 250 bhp - another 40 kgs and I'll be happy
Of course I could save another 0.25 kgs if I lost the number plates
some wag will say I could save another 1 kg if I took all the stickers off
Ian. Good to hear that the Monza has been on the Atkins diet! That's effectively like 2 x 15 stone passengers getting out so I'd expect that to make a difference! The diet is good, but is there any way to coax a few more ponies out of the engine with out throwing stupid money at forced induction or nitrous?
Very kind of you to take up the job of sending pics out too, as you can guess George and me are a tad busy! We have real jobs to do as well as organising these events sadly, and they take up time too!

GIT.... My secret's out!!!!!! I'm going to be bringing along my event printer (prints out 9"x6" prints in 11 seconds and 6"x4" in 7 seconds) so if anyone wants prints at the end of the day then they can take them home.

All I need to make is £3 per 9"x6" print to cover my printing costs so if I ask £5 then I can give the other £2 straight to the organisers on the day. They will still be available to buy on the web site but I'd personally like to take something home at the end of the day - and you'll have to pay postage & packaging if ordering off the web.

Will do!!! Edited by SnapperLad on Thursday 17th March 21:17
Approx 100 for sat and 85 for Sunday mate. Still a couple of weeks before the deadline so we di expect the numbers to rise.
Those of you that watch the news will have seen RAF Marham mentioned in the last few days. As far as the track day team are aware, the event is still going ahead. Should we have to cancel the event due to operational requirements (this has always been a potential show stopper, thankfully we have never had to cancel one yet) then full refunds will be given.
There is no time line as to when and if this decision would be made, so keep checking this thread, if the situation changes we will update this thread and contact all the various forum reps to pass on any updates.
