Anyone got any photos or video of my silver saab 9000 aero before it totally blew its cylinder head gasket and no. 2 piston. 
Had boost and misfiring issues from the start and just when I got them sorted it threw its hand in...gutted. Missed sunday and was walking round the countryside with that dreadful noise of high revving engines in the distance ruining the peace....shouldn't be allowed!! 
Actual block has 2-3mm melted crater...never known cast iron to melt in engines before!

My mate who was filming some of the proceedings from the passenger seat managed to get a shot of your 9000 steaming past us on the straight - once he gets the video uploaded off his phone I'll post a link to it here. That piston looks rather sorry for itself . I saw the car in the pits with white smoke coming out of the exhaust - I thought you might have blown the turbo. You looked like you'd got a fair bit of track time in before it went pop though - and you reminded me just how bloody fast Aeros are.

I wouldn't use that piston again if I was you, might be a tad unreliable...
What a horrid un-Saably sight that is, lovely cars Aeros are too
Hope you get the beastie alive again soon, and I expect to see it again later in the year
Up until this year my 9000 was to be the back up car if the Midge had a gremlin, but after a catastrophic but very slow building up head gasket "issue" I had to let her go to be recycled into a chinese fridge or japanese foot scooter or ten
There's a pretty reasonable Saab second user spares guy near Kimbolton if you need one

its a real shame about the Sayab, hope you get her back in business soon, great car.
I actually remember you passing me after leaving the "ex-piano keys complex" It's good to see the Midget was behaving so well on the wriggleybits, practically no body roll at all
I wonder how she would be on the springs I fitted this week?
These allow some bounce at last, but I need resilience to take her to Le Mans soon, very close to grounding permanently on the ferry ramps last year and no pleasure for a five hour driving stint
(Thinks... I could really do with some extra horsepower...)
Anyway thanks for the videos, they bring a great weekend back immediately

..... and it's really great to see a 900 out on the track - don't think I've ever seen one before.
looked pretty neat under the bonnet as well.
shame about the silver car, I was hoping to get some time in it to compare lines, etc. Came looking for you, but couldn't find you. Got plenty of laps with your pit "neighbours", tho.
as it was, I spent all sunday morning under the Porsche fixing the fuel pump, only to have the water pump fail once I'd finished.( lump of aluminium fell ut of the casting )
The EVO performed faultlessly al weekend, only to have the fuel pump fail driving out of the station. We ended up driving the 924 home on the trailer ( to Northumberland ) and driving back again on the monday to fix the EVO in the guardroom car park - and then home again !
Nova again ran faultlessly, apart from one puncture. The slicks were excellent, very controllable, although I'll never truly get the hang of turning in to the corners at each end of the runwa without lifting off !
the piston, I'm sure you'll have worked out, has failed due to a thermal overload - usually toomuch boost and/or too little fuel ( either fuel to run it or over-fuel to cool it ) I'd investigate forged pistons, a little more over-fuelling, pegging the boost slightly lower and investigating the fuel pump - you could just have run out of supply capacity.
looking forward to the next one already - just got to choose which cars to bring now !
