I finally received my summons from being pulled over for speeding in June this year.

As the speed was 120mph, and I already have 6 points, I've been told the I could get £500+ fine, 5 points, 12 month ban and a possible re-test!

I'll keep you posted (my court date is 23rd October), but it looks likely I'll miss the 2007 season! OOPS!

I only have myself blame....its just going to be a pain, considering I live in the middle of no where, I LOVE my car (as you probably all know ) and no PHEA visits!!

Steve, I have a Road Angel, but the Trafpol used VASCAR, so no signal was given off for the device to pick up.

After speaking to an ex-Trafpol friend, it appears somewhat of an irony that I caught using this system, and he said its rarely used nowadays! Such is Sods Law!!

Ah oops...I mentioned it on another thread, but forgot to put it in here
The court date was deferred until 7th November (I think...need to check that one )

Okey dokey....I met my solicitor yesterday (Thursday).

After a lengthy discussion its been confirmed I cannot get out of this one, so a guilty is best, however we discussed various things to put forward to the court to hopefully show the magistrates I'm not some chavvy boy racer who can't drive properly!

The solicitor did say I can't get both points AND a ban. However, if the court decides to ban me for the offence, then its descretionary. If they give me points for the offence, its most likely going to be 6 points, which means I'd get the totting up ban (also for a 6 month duration). There was talk that I could be given a community service order, which could lower either my fine or my ban.
Obviously this is all up to how the magisrate is feeling on the day, so watch this space....until then.....1 and a half weeks of driving left

That seems like a good option. Remember that courts are unlikely to take away your livelihood, so if you think of as many reasons why you NEED to be able to drive, get them in. Living in Nowheresville, needing to get to college when there are no buses, seeing your poor gran in hospital, taking your brother's kids to school because he's broken his leg (adapt story to suit!) - should help swing you away from a ban. Character references can't do any harm either - assuming they say you are a sound chap and not a homicidal axe maniac...

Is the 'retraining' course (ie sitting in class with a patronising Plod to be told that good driving = drive at 30) - an option?

I haven't been told retraining with a 'high-and-mighty' plod is an option, probably down to the speed involved.

We'll put forward a variety of things: mentioning I live in the middle of no where; saying I was borrowing my Dads car to get the airport in time because we were late leaving Norwich to get to Gatwick; I took into account the current road conditions - dry, clear, warm day with straight near empty duel carriageway; I'm currently unemployed with £50 a week allowance from my parents which includes petrol costs, although I'm currently seeking a job; I occasionally take my Dad to work in London and bring the car back; I was polite and courteous and knew I had done wrong - Policeman wrote that in his statement ; I was very aware of my surroundings as I saw the police car on the slip road immediately - Policeman wrote that down too!
