...I will make myself available for Puke early next yr though.
Hi Kylie,
If you mean January 5th, please let me know soon because it is almost full already.
Only one other Esprit (besides George!).
It would be good to see you there.
If you meant CLNZ sprints in April, that's like 110 days away!
If you meant something else altogether - what am I not signed up for?!

Hi no I will be down in Timavegas (Timaru) back up here on the 10th. I am hanging out to April to get some timed laps. I got an unofficial invite from from Si's Hot Rod club to join them early in the new yr too. This was a success last time. Its been real hectic for me this yr with stuff on, infact most hectic ever. Buying and selling property, marriage, buy and sell car, trips to down under and overseas. Wheres the yr gone and my Lotus money Figured I will have my life a bit more settled by next yr.
Kylie... pfft marriage... you should have ditched that Simon guy ages ago... he's only infecting you with his hot-rod ways!
Hehe just kidding.... will certainly look forward to seeing you and Simon and Black Beauty at an event next time... I'm looking at having another Pistonheads day in early December... I'll post details up here soon... hopefully the weather plays ball this time and we can have a bigger turnout

Even lap time.... from what Kylie's told me of her past exploits there.... She's a little quicker on the straight bits due to better earodynamics and more ponies, but I'm more nimble around the tighter bits. Kylie runs track-tyres though so even around Taupo, she's no slug
Am only going off the lises I have followed and being able to pass the lower hp ones, so driver abilities has a lot to do with it too and you really never know how hard people push their cars. My car is pretty slow through the small stuff with having to heave more, but make a little up on the top end speed, plus late breaking where I can Well I think I am still a slug compared to you lot, but hey the thrill is getting out there for blat isn't it? Then sharing the feeling of being amped up -- Yeah baby!!!
A little hint for those going to Taupo.
DON'T look at the BIG, SHINEY, YELLOW earth-moving equipment off the end of the straight . . . marvelling at how BIG they really are . . . wondering what they'd be like to drive . . . chuckling to oneself about fuel-economy . . .
When you should be looking for your braking and turn-in points

Well as all good layed plans go, things change! I wont be able to make the Taupo visit this year. I have been summons to play in the band (yep, paid muso from way back). So I guess a good track run will have to wait till next year
Have a great time all.

Just booked my accommodation, staying at Catelli's on Rifle Range Road... all set now... just gotta get the Elise back on the road!
George, had a spot for you at Cascades, double for you and the wife (mines not coming) haven't been able to get connection out of Raro for the last day or so....
Still there if you want it ? share room that has two singles down and double up - let me know ASAP.
Cheers Dean
PS - Raro mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ;-)
Thanks for that Dean and I'd have bitten your hand off if I'd known last night, but I'm all booked in now at the place round the corner.... bugger though as it would have been cool to stay in the same place.... I'm going to be literally spitting distance away though, around the corner.... might be worth contacting Kiwikid or Photochromatic as they may not yet have a booking sorted.
When you say "raro" I'm assuming you don't mean the drink

Bugger just paid for the works Xmas bash same evening.
I'm getting set up for trackdays etc. I've got a set of four point harnesses, harness bar etc arriving with my personal stuff next week and a sport 160 Throttle body and a sports cat. However I need to sort myself a brain bucket.
More importantly I need to check the state of my wheel bearings they are starting to ge a bit noisy, so definitely no go for track use in the immediate future.
Have people got trackday insurance for their cars if so how much? are there any specs for helmets or will a motorbike helmet do.
Looking forward to seeing Wellington Piston Heads soon. Any body got details of drag racing in Seatoun?

Good luck Steve.... Luck
Wise choice to make sure the car is A-1 before heading onto the track.
A motorbike helmet is fine for trackdays, just has to meet basic minimum-standard, so anything over about $150 from a reputable dealer will be fine.
I'd not bother with harnesses for trackdays unless you really want them... they're not required and may actually be hassle to get certed for trackdays. I know Dean (KiwiLE) sometimes uses harnesses. The only other thing you'll NEED is a mounted fire-extinguisher.
The 160TB will help you out a bit... makes everyday driving a bit more of an issue (more "jerky" than the standard one) but makes the car more responsive to throttle inputs and easier to balance when you're "on it".
I'm STILL trying to get my Larini exhaust system on (after 2 weeks and 60 hours work!) and am now just waiting on an exhaust clamp being sent from the UK, should be here Mondya... it better bloody work or else I'll be circulating Taupo Raceway in an '87 Mitsubishi Mirage SpaceWagon 1.5GLX come next Saturday. I've started the car with the new exhaust on and mocked-up and it sounds GORGEOUS.... I might not have the fastest elise there but it'll be one of the nicer sounding ones hopefully.... it's loud but not excessively so

Oh, and trackday insurance in NZ doesn't exist... in NZ if you drive your car within 5 miles of a racetrack you're considered a "hoon" and are uninsurable for life (or something like that anyway) .... I think you'll find it's amazing how few people have accidents on trackdays though... although an alarming number seem to "have a bit of an accident on the way home from a day trip down to the pukekohe region"
