Had a nice one of these and loved it - only cost $1000 15 years ago - it'd show 100mph in third gear with two left to go. I remember following an Audi for 50 miles at an indicated 120mph.

Good find, shame about the homemade quad light kit though.......
I have a friend in wellington who has one of these- bought it new back in 88 i believe. He really loves it though unfortunately there have been a few issues with rust and sourcing parts. He has had some very good drives around the South Island and yes he can vouch for the long gearing and 'comfortable' cruising speeds.

I really hope he can get it back on the road soon.

And you could paint it in any scheme you like. Wish I had the spare time and $$$ for that cloud9

Straighter, but maybe not straight. Unless this is a fully compliant vehicle, like a new Mustang for example, it isn't eligible for a LHD permit - scratchbuilt low volume vehicles must be right-hand drive.

Maybe its just me but $20k sounds a lot for a Europa that hasn't been on the road in that long and would require a lot more spent on it.

I always wanted a Europa years ago but theses days it seems hard to justify one if they cost more than an Elise.

Thanks Mark I saw that. Not sure it was even on there for 24 hours! It would be interesting to know what became of it. The ad did say "Selling OBO from deceased estate" which I wasn't 100% sure what that meant. And 13 years off the road is a long time!

It's actually considerably worse than it looks. There is a high res copy of it somewhere and he only just manages to straighten it before the bridge.... certainly looks to have shaken the codog.

Indeed... from the brief look you get of the bridge it looks like its plastered stone or concrete, a sideways impact at that speed would have been terminal (like Brocky in the WA targa).

Time to load a container full of Bedford trucks and send them to Blighty?

There's one of these local to me being used as a carpenter's truck. I shouldn't imagine he would consider it worth upwards of $30k...

The leather could do with a bit of work but otherwise a very tidy looking classic.
