The Escort RS Cosworth is ALWAYS going to be a better bet than any Evo/WRX variant (barring perhaps the 22B) in terms of driving experience.

I've never had the chance to try a Cossie to find out how they drive, pretty sure it wouldnt be $50k better though . May well feel more 'special' due to being so rare in NZ though, no question about that.

I know I'd prefer to be flicking a $10k depreciating STi round the local gravel with $50k in the bank earning interest than flicking round a $60k Cossie that would be appreciating if If it wasn't getting thrashed on gravel roads though...just my take on it.

I could live my life without owning an STi or an Evo, but if I ever knocked back the chance to own an RS Escort Cosworth I wouldn't be able to live with myself. I think thats the difference between the cars for me. The Cossie is top five on my must-have list (E46 M3 CSL, Cerbera 4.5, Sagaris, Ultima GTR would be the others).

Instead of an Escort Cossie why not go for a 4wd Saphire? These are much cheaper and essentially the same car (the Cossie escorts are built on shortened Saphire floorpans I believe, not Escort shells and share practically no panels with the lesser models).

Cossies feel quicker than they are because of that old school turbo-rush. Most turbo'd cars now feel a bit flat if you ask me.

Yeah, saw that. Delicious and still a very quick car especially if you replace the truck turbo with something a bit smaller and more responsive. If I owned one it'd have to have the original mirror image 'TURBO' sticker on the front though. 70s intimidation at it's best!

BMW can still provide most of the parts for them through their 'Mobile Tradition' scheme.

Looks a fun wee toy - there was one of those at the S.F.O.S allegedly running about 700bhp, it certainly went like a rocket on the straights. Bit twitchy coming on boost in the corners though hehe

seems a reasonable price for one of those, didn't realise prices had come down that far. Maybe one day I'll be able to afford one if they keep depreciating like that.
