Saw this in Billericay on Thursday

No way to describe the old boy... biggrin

I grew up in Billericay & used to walk past the offices in the background on my way to school. One was an accountancy practice. The owner/Senior Partner used to park a brown RR Silver Spirit on the roadway between the two buildings. The Royce was appropriately reg'd MUD 1 (name of the firm).

Was it red (and a spyder with a black roof)? If so, it's probably the same one that I saw this morning - followed me along Parkway in Chelmsford (assume that it's also what I thought was a Ferrari yesterday morning!).

In Chelmsford news... drove over the new A131 bridge through Beaulieu Park... saw a car already pulled over (black X5) by a police Volvo. Busy road already with lots of construction traffic & crap on the road.

Is that the new bridge I have seen whilst trying to navigate the horrendous new(ish) road layout trying to get back on the A12, near the BMW dealership - always wondered where that went.

Presume it's the new way to Stansted for us Sarfenders?

yes its that one. the new road layouts make chiverton cross look well designed...

not sure were it goes eventually, although i suppose it must lead to regiment way ultimately and thus stansted, as i steer clear of the soulless awfullness that is that hideous swathe of cheaply built and designed houses and development that those new estates at Beulieu are (and there not exactly cheap either - why would anyone who could afford some of the prices quoted for the bigger ones choose to live in a box house on a soulless new build is beyond me...).

thousands of homes on a grade farmland...f'ing travesty. the south east is full ffs. but the farmers are laughing as i know first hand.

any way rant over...

yep red (i think although now doubting) and was a spyder for sure. not sure on roof colour, i was past before i clocked too much and was trying to remember the model name having seen the trident on the front of a attractive looking motor rather than taking it on so much.

btw wtf has happened at miami roundabout?!

back here for a bit after a spell out west and find brainless road markings condensing traffic on the approaches from 3 to 2 lanes causing tailbacks to other junctions, and ultimately more gridlock across the town, less capacity on the roundabout itself as well.

crazy...

and some bell end straight lined it in busy traffic today as i come out of wood street going right to tesco, they in the middle lane going down london road. i knew they would come into the right hand only lane as they were tyres width over the white line on the entry as we queued so no drama other than my little toot of warning of them coming completely into my lane receiving fingers up...

logically someone makes a dangerous mistake gets a warning toot and they give you the finger.

driving round here seems to have got worse.

Yes - apparently the "it's the longest curved multi-span bridge over land in England" designed to take traffic from the A12 to A120/Essex Regiment Way (eventually) via the new housing & commercial areas etc; plus the new railway station (being built) - currently it takes you from the Boreham Interchange to the Shell PFS near the Park & Ride.

The road network getting to it from the A12's a mess with many traffic lights, confusing signs & the whole thing already seems under provided for the traffic using it.

Edited to add local paper link as it's got some decent aerial pics of the bridge & surrounds:

I think the intention was to try & make the access to Tesco clearer... but as for implementation, my colleague who comes across it daily agrees with your comments.

Assume it'll still jam-up during very busy shopping times.

Interesting that the lanes are now so prescriptive though, especially coming from Wood St - New London Road, wonder if this design will be applied at the new Army & Navy junction (costs for which approved yesterday).

It's a blimming joke; in the time it took me to walk to the car, load three bags of shopping and return the trolley the queue went from three cars to backed up past the petrol station.

At least I've got a sexy new bridge to try out though biggrin

Would someone be so kind as to try out the new bridge for me and let me know if will indeed be quicker to Stansted than going past the BMW/Mini garage and then turning right at the Merc dealer and heading up that way?

Thanks very much biggrin

It should be, depending on the time of day... although at the moment there probably won't be much in it as it exits onto a roundabout that you would use if you came the previous way.

In the future it'll drop you onto Essex Regiment Way - that'll give you dual carriageway for the bulk of the journey to the A120... whether you'll be able to turn left then & go via Ford End on the B1008 to the A120 to Stansted (quicker IME) remains to be seen.

Nah you will get stuck behind some throbbed doing 40 everywhere in the Felsted ford end stretch...or the tansted bus with no one daring overtake.

You also occasionally get locals doing speed checks in Ford End.
