Am toying with the idea of putting together a scavenger hunt type run and giving teams a list of random tasks/collecting objects. So, any interest and ideas?

Sure, I'm in. would suggest making fun by having all the check points at pubs along the route! :-)

Great idea.

Participated in one a few years ago - About a 150 mile route that took most of the day with about 12 or 14 stops.

Started with a list of cryptic'ish clues and a list of questions. The clues were used to find each location - very specific, i.e. road junction, sign post, car park, building, etc. Each question was specific to the location so you had to go there to get the answer, and some of them were fairly difficult and needed some wandering about on foot when you arrived!

The organiser had driven the route at 'slightly less' (whatever that means!) than the relevant speed limits without stopping and this was known as 'zero time'. Every second you took over zero time was equal to 1 point and the car/team with the least number of points was the winner. However, two important bits - zero-time was in a sealed envelope with the organiser and none of the participants knew what it was until the end; and anyone who was below zero time would be disqualified!

Scoring was then applied to the questions - each unanswered question or incorrect answer was penalised with a harsh penalty of several minutes (10'ish I think!). These penalties were then added to your zero time score so it could be zero points added or several thousand!

Some teams racked up 10's of 1000's of points and it was really easy to do the scoring so we didn't have to hang around too long and got to the pub fairly quickly afterwards!

Also, Sat Nav made no difference at all so wasn't banned like in most treasure hunt type events!

Edited to add: the winners were a couple who sat in there car at the start and worked out every destination with a map and analyzed every question before they left! Everyone else, including me and my mate, screamed off as soon as we worked out the first destination so spent a lot of time getting somewhere and then sitting there for ages trying to work out the answer - let alone the next destination!

I can't do the 13th May. In fact the whole of May already looks pretty busy for me!

No probs, May is just a rough date being batted around. Won't be any earlier though.

I'd love to have a go at something like this.
I'd need a co-pilot though, so an early indication of the likely date would be most helpful. I'd also to be happy to help with preparation work if required.
Cheers, David
