unmarked police cars

Spotted an 08 Vectra 2,5 , dark blue in South Reading, 3 or 4 aerials and looking very police like - looked very smart and similar to a VXR
It pulled out in front of me sat (in my Vectra SRI) and then slowed down to about 10 mph just to annoy me, so I stopped for a paper
Next day saw it on the same road and had pulled over another vectra and had all the blues on.

Driving to Slough from Reading on the M4.
Would you believe it, a Ford Focus with Blues and Twos on gunning it in the outside lane coming the opposite way!
Also saw a couple of weeks back on the M25 heading towards Heathrow from the M3 a 3 door Toyota Corrolla with Blues and Twos!
Sneaky, eh?

Alot of these unmarked motor's will be detective's car's that are equipped with blues and two's soley to get them to crime scene's swiftly etc etc... some of them may only use them a few times a year to get to specific jobs that occur very rarely. Then you have your everyday CID cars again to ferry them from job to job, CID getting involved in traffic matters is about as likely as a pool cleaner getting involved in taxidermy.
There are many other ambiguous roles that unmarked cars could be aswell such as for example Fire Investigator, or the Atomic Energy Constabulary, or Driving School etc etc whereby the chances of ever having contact with them are about minus 36%.
The actual amounts of unmarked traffic cars or actual patrol out there are so few and far between, your likely to see them once a year if your lucky. Thats not a ticket to break the law, but, it is interesting to read some of the cars that are posted, as many of them will not be patrol vehicles or in fact any sort of operational vehicle. The Vectra mentioned above sounds your general operational patrol vehicle. Think "Road Wars" although many of the vehicles on some of the older episodes are already outdated today.
Lakelord, an R Reg BMW 318 with sirens and two tones? Sounds very worrying. My initial thought is maybe one of the ring of car criminals trying to deceive car's into pulling over before making off with the car to me...
