Think this fits the bill:

BMW 535i Sport / 2000 / 1 Owner / 90,000 miles / Good History / £6k

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/366823.htm

Check List:
A comfortable motorway cruiser - Supreme mile muncher
Good fun to drive on the twisties - Class leading handling
"Respectable" when visiting clients - Very
Reasonably reliable, with low servicing costs - Similar to other marques
Preferably a nice soundtrack (V8 / V6) - V8 3500cc 32 valve (I think)
Preferably 4 doors (not essential) - Tick

That is stunning for the money!

I saw a couple of those on AutoT as well, but figured Dave already had a 540i Sport so wouldn't go for two on the drive... that'd just be greedy! hehe

Thats equally nice... I suppose it's all down to the roads you'll be on most of the time and is there any fun to be had too? If mostly motorways then the 7 looks fantastic; however the Merc will be equally at home cruising a motorway or hustling down a B road I suppose?

Good point John.

I have just noticed that both cars are advertised as having full BMW / MB service history - except for last service - BOTH cars.

Do i smell fish?

Is there any way i can confirm the mileage before going there and examining the paperwork?

Nigel can 'phone a friend' for you I should think re the BMW, and with the MB you could try just phoning your local dealer and asking if they have any national records on the car? I know BMW dealers are all linked so any dealer can look up any cars complete history with BMW dealers... For me it's all about MOT's - if you can look through the MOT's and match them to the service periods then it's usually kosher. When I was looking to buy the Passat I found one where the service book was filled in and stamped with mileages, but a couple of the MOT mileages contradicted the service schedule! rolleyes
Walked away from that dealer! smile

Just remember things like 750's and C43's don't sell easily... whereas with a 535/540/740/E55 there is usually a more receptive market.

Just called the guy advertising the AMG Merc and the 750 Beamer. 07960 588536.
Started by asking him about the Merc's service history. "Full MB servicing until the last one, which was done locally". I mentioned that i knew he had another car for sale, and asked him if he was a dealer or a private trader. HE WASN'T SURE !!!

I asked him specifically "Are you a dealer or not?" and the line went dead. I called him back, and the phone rang out until it got to voicemail.

If it looks like and duck, and walks like a duck, in all probablility it is a ...

Well, if a mod saw this thread they would see he was advertising on Autotrader as a trader, with the same cars on here as a private seller, i.e. trying not to pay the trade seller fees rofl
