I looked at n XC90 at the Boat Caravan and Dogging Show, and was very impressed, the S60 Rich VRS reffer's to is our Dad's D5 and I have to say I thrapped the Arse off of it to Le Man 07 (136mph fully loaded) never overtaken once biggrin and was very impressed with the over all performance.

Nissan Pathfinder, Mitsubishi Outlander, both available for just under 20k as "nearly new" with nominal mileage and 7 seats and all the usual kit (elec windows, air con, etc.)
I have looked at the Mitsubishi outlander and shogun 7 seater but the thrid row of seat remove all of the boot space for a pram..

Also i am not going to be driving an espace or similar as the kiddies heads are right next to the rear window.. With the 4x4 Xc90, Tribeca, Shogun there is still a good 24-30" space between the head and rear window. The shogun seats feal a little agricultural similar to the ones in the early Discovery..

I have so far looked at

Subaru Tribeca SE7 Edition can be had for around 19k second hand 12month old low milage but would mean my impreza goes in as Partex.. But only return 18mpg around town. Good boot space when 3 row of seats are up (enough for a twin buggy

Volvo XC90 12-18k for a used one but 3-4 years old and higher milage. But diesel and returns dood economy and would mean i can keep my impreza.
Loads of boot space enough for a twin buggy and space for the weeks shopping.
