Back on topic (sorry) i've just had a call from my mum in Caversham. She's out getting sand bags filled (with sand in fact). The Environment Agency dropped by earlier, after three phone calls, to say that she's likely to be wading to the kitchen sink by tomorrow morning so she needs to put some sand bags in place.
Oh dear! Where abouts in Caversham does she live? Is it down towards Amersham Estate? I've seen the roads flooded down that way before.Robatr0n said:

They're expecting the river to rise 5 feet
this evening and tomorrow morning.
That's not funny - my boat is moored in Wargrave... They're expecting the river to rise 5 feet

Alot of people at willowtree mariner have had problems in the past where they havent come to slacking off the mooring ropes whilst the water level rises above the jetty. They end up capsizing if it gets high enough or they take onboard alot of water.
I hope no-one gets flooded

Can we go back to discussing Ben's new car now - that was far more fun!

But 6.5 to 60 is positively pedestrian ![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)
And my car already does that... need to try harder. ![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)

All bit over the top some of this reporting. The river is at high winter levels. In marlow (below the weirstream) we have had an 8 inch rise in the last 24hours. To get to 2003 levels we need another 3ft. May happen but no signs yet and the environment agency are saying the same. Sorry to all those upstream but you buy a house on the flood plain and it will flood!

I heard that cookham, marlow, maidenhead waters are going to rise tuesday night and windsor might be worse than in 2003AngryS3Owner said:
Rich, I don't mind getting wet / impractical / pretty much anything... I think a westfield is a step too far though
And there is a good reason for the M5, well about 400 of them!
Ben - can't recall what you set the budget at but what about this:![hehe](/inc/images/hehe.gif)

Need to consider costs when something like an M5 or Chim goes wrong, unless you are going to get a warranty. A VX220T would probably be a lot safer bet.
Or, what about a 3.2 Boxster? Seriously underated car IMHO.

But then we have a fully open flood relief scheme these days, which should at least mean that Windsor is spared the worst, but I pity the people further downstream where more water will arrive quicker ![frown](/inc/images/frown.gif)
Hey RichB - was that one of your photos I saw on the BBC Berks website, the "Volvo S60 powerboat" ?
