RE: Ginetta G4
Discussion
Hey Everyone...
>>>>>>>> CHECK EVO MAGAZINE OUT!! G4 ARTICLE <<<<<<<<<<
I went with the journalist to Dare and drove both the G4 and Dare TG Sport which may feature in EVO soon.
Also check out in the same magazine the Leading Edge 190RT... at the EVO track day.. also features on the limited edition CDROM they are giving out with some issues.
I have been busy designing websites and brochures for the LESCC 190RT www.lescc.com 'New kid on the block.. and likely to perform well in forthcoming race events...
apologies again.. read EVO and let me know what you think... No Hard-top available.. Ivor Walklett is currently perfecting it's design. We all wait in anticipation.

I agree with having Ginetta in it's own item listing - but then I'm ever so slightly biased!!
The company is in a state of flux at the moment, the new cars in the race series are great fun (G20s). The Road car stable looks impressive and should be complemented with a new and improved G33 model being added, plus there might just be a totally new model on the horizon.....

So, I finally get EVO here in the USA and read the short piece on the G4.
Questions: If the G4 weighs less than the Elise, has more horsepower than some of the Elises listed in the back of EVO, why is the G4's 0-60 times slower than the Elise--doesn't more horsepower and lighter weight equal faster car? Is it because the Elise has its engine in the rear?

It could be many reasons: different people performing the test, a different track surface, tyre size, the Elise might get better traction being mid engined, the gear ratios would be different between the 2 cars so the G4 might need a change into 3rd to reach 60, the G4 figure might be 0-62mph (100kmh).
torque?
diff?
power distribution, i.e. where's the max power at which revs?
Gearbox ratios?
Driver..
Tyres..
Weather!
Tarmac..
All of these things go in to the melting pot...
Even possibly fuel (esp. here in the UK with Optimax)..
Do you have more figures from the article? You only mention it's slower - by how much + other times??
EPS

I am just working on updating the www.goginetta.com
web site with a gallery of photo's taken at the same time as Brett Fraser (EVO Journalist).
I spoke to Ivor a couple of days ago and he has confirmed completion of the removeable hardtop.
I have asked that some images be sent up to me, so fingeres crossed, we shall have some soon.
