you bet... the G16 is pretty versatile platform. Open car, targa, T-bar, full coupe. They have had moulds for doing a coupe for ages.
I think its all do-able
I like the Targa Panel version as in pic- where u can just remove 2 panels leaving a central part in the roof, but not sure about the windscreen. Prefer the G12 type with pointed corners.
G16 originally ran many different engines, like the BMW or BRM engines. But ofcourse a nice 2.3 Duratec 4cylinder (longitudinal) with appropriate gearbox, would be a nice modern alternative- easy to get 220-250 BHP and emissions friendly. I suppose a V6 duratec could in theory fit too.
Weight of G16 with 4 cylinder approx ~600kg
G16 also has more legroom and width than G12
i know Dare have made a few G16s for Japan over the years..

Jeees!! DO WE have to get back into all this cr**
If you want to discuss this then what about all the G4s and G12s that have been made by Ginetta (Ginetta Heritage).... The rights to G4 and G12 are still owned by a Japanese guy and Dare are the sole recognised agents..
Im not sure who officially owns the G16 rights, i posted the above merely to show what potenetially could be done with the G16
But Dare website states that 'replacement G16 chassis/body are available'

The G4 is around 3.40 m long
The G12 3.55 m long
The G16 about 12-15 cm longer than G12 and a fair bit wider. I think G16 wheelbase is also longer.
Overall the G16 looks a good size, 6 footer will certainly fit in one.
The general design/layout is v similar to the G12. The G16 was designed as a development of the G12 theme, allowing more power and much wider wheels.
A G16 may have a similar amount of leg room as a long-base G4 at the very least, But with advantage of no central tranmission tunnel and a wider cockpit..
Oh and the G16 had door handles on the outside!!

hmmm..
well i would not want to take anything away from the great recent success of ginetta cars ltd
im very happy that they have managed to keep the brand alive and well, i would not have wished anything else.
BUT, surely it cannot be right for anyone (including GH) to produce cars that they are legally not entilted to produce. This cannot be condoned if it occurs it certainly does not contribute to 'ginettas survival' as u put it. in fact it will detract from the credibility of the marque and cars in the future.
Dare is a company and brand in its own right. It is the Walkletts, and the G4,12,16 are the ginetta designs that they are legally entitled to build and market if they so wish. Having both dare an ginetta ltd around is great for all concerned.
if u cant afford a real g16 and wanted a recreation made, you can't get your mate to knock one up in shed and get some chassis plates made (which is infact what u are implying by your picture analogy). Im afraid you would have to very nicely ask Dare to build you one, cos anything else wouldn't be a Ginetta, or a G16 or anything for that matter.
i wonder what the lotus boys would think of an unauthorised person blatantly knocking up elans and putting chasis numbers on them!! why should it be allowed with Ginetta's. it does not look good.. im sure most sane people will agree with me on this..
............back to the original topic now!!??

bit of a difference between someone making fake ginetta badges and someone making a fake whole car!!!
also there are always going to be unauthorised reproductions/replica race cars around, but i dont think you'll find anyone actually advertising the fact that they are making them..

my identity is no secret... people with half a brain cell know who others are on here.

Please dont be so ignorant u have humiliated yourself enough. Im on here to discuss the cars, u have been the one bringing up controversial issues... and u cant be surprised if people then reply to your comments.

as i said earlier this thread was just to appreciated the G16, before being HIJACKED by you...!

the difference being the cars u mentioned dont claim to be 'lotus'.......they are badged as another brand, and some just share the deisgn theme but are not true to the original (e.g. lotus 7 styled cars)

not sure, could well be one of the original G16s..?
